Transfers vs. Public Transport and Taxi in Larnaca
Larnaca is the third largest city in Cyprus after Nicosia and Limassol. It is located on the southeastern coast of the island. The city hosts the main and largest international airport of Cyprus. Tourists coming to Larnaca for holidays also go to Ayia Napa, Protaras, Kyrenia, and Paphos.
How to get from Larnaca to Larnaca Airport, train station, or neighboring cities
The main public transport in Cyprus is buses. There are no railroads on the island. So tourists usually travel by:
— buses or shuttles. There is the city bus № 425 running from the central bus station to the airport. You can also take a bus or shuttle from Larnaca to Limassol, Nicosia, Paphos, Famagusta, and other resorts of the island, but there are not always direct ones;
— taxi. It can be ordered by phone or via the app;
— transfer. You should book it via the Internet in advance.
Public transport stops operating at night, so it is better to order a transfer beforehand or call a taxi.
Transfer vs. Taxi service in Larnaca ordered by phone or via the app
Advantages of a private transfer
You don’t have to trust an unfamiliar app to organize your trip. You won’t be able to use a familiar aggregator like Uber here: only local apps such as Mtaxi and Igogo operate in Cyprus. Sometimes, calling a taxi using these apps is just impossible.
Cheaper and the price is fixed. For example, a taxi from Larnaca to Limassol will cost you 59 euros at daytime and 69 euros at night, and to Paphos — 106 euros at daytime and 116 euros at night. Transfers on the same routes will cost 53 and 104 euros at any time of day.
Transfer in Larnaca vs. Bus and Shuttle
Advantages of a private transfer
There is no need for you to plan your route because the Kiwitaxi driver will meet you where it is most comfortable for you and take you right to your desired destination. No changes on the way and looking for buses in an unfamiliar city.
No exhausting waiting. Waiting for a necessary bus may take you at least 1.5 hours. There is no need to wait for a transfer: it will be waiting for you at the specified time.
You can leave the city even at night, when public transport stops running.
Much more comfortable. If you choose a shuttle, you will have to wait for all passengers. As for buses, they are often crowded, and traveling on them with suitcases is very uncomfortable. A transfer is comfortable inside, and there are no other passengers except you. Besides, there is always a trunk for baggage.
Disadvantages of a private transfer
More expensive. A ticket to Limassol and Nicosia costs around 4 euros, and to Paphos — around 7 euros.
What is worth visiting in Larnaca?
The favorite place among tourists and city residents is Phinikoudes embankment or, as it is also called, the date palm embankment. In the evening, one can take a leisurely stroll here or visit one of the numerous restaurants.
In Larnaca, you should also see Al Kebir and Hala Sultan Tekke mosques, as well as the old Panagia Angeloktisti Church which, according to legends, was built by angels. Not far from the city, there is another interesting place — the ancient Stavrovouni Monastery.
Children will definitely like the amusement park called Lucky Star Park, and shopping lovers should go to the streets Zenonos Kitieos and Ermou.
