Bordeaux Airport regularly accepts flights from Paris and Northern Africa. If you are arriving at this air terminal, you’ll find it useful to know how to get from Merignac Airport to Bordeaux city center and neighboring destinations. In this article, we’ll share some transportation tips.
Taxi from Bordeaux Airport
You can either call or take a taxi right after you passed the passport control and took your luggage. A taxi from Bordeaux Airport to the city center costs 16-20 euros with the whole trip taking about half an hour. Although taxi drivers use a meter, you should better ask about an estimated fare before getting in the car to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Transfer from Bordeaux Airport
Unlike taxi, a pre-booked transfer is a more comfortable transport means, especially when you travel with children. Ordering a transfer online, you can specify a number of passengers, whether a child seat is needed, and choose a preferred vehicle. Your driver will meet you right upon arrival, and you will not have to spend additional time on arranging transportation there and then. Kiwitaxi private transfers are fast and reliable, as the company hires only qualified and licensed drivers and has all cars technically inspected. A transfer from Bordeaux Airport to the city center will take about 25 minutes and cost from 46 euros.
Public Transport from Bordeaux Airport
The air hub provides a direct bus shuttle to St Jean Railway Station in Bordeaux. It departs from the terminal B every 20-40 minutes daily and will get you to the destination in 30 minutes for around 8 euros per ticket. The Lianes1+ bus regularly cruises between the air hub and the train station too, you can take it for 1-3 euros per ticket and spend near 40 minutes for the trip. However, if you arrive early in the morning – before 5 am, or late in the evening – after 9 pm, you will have to consider some other transport type.
There is no train connection between the airport and city center, but local trains can get you from St Jean Railway Station to neighboring towns. A railway trip to Biarritz, for example, will take you 2,5 hours and cost 29-45 euros, while a journey to Bergerac will last 1,5 hours and cost 17-25 euros. A train to St Emilion will reach the destination in about 40 minutes and 10 euros per adult ticket.
