How to Get from Yerevan to the Airport and Other Destinations

Yerevan is the biggest city in Armenia and also its capital. This city is the most important transport hub of the country. The tourists can get to the other localities by public transport, taxi or by transfer.

Taxi from Yerevan

Yerevan is a relatively small city, which center could be covered on foot by the tourists. Despite its size, everywhere in the capital of Armenia, you can come across cars from different taxi companies.

Taxi in Yerevan has company names with a phone number on the body and the checkers on the roof. Licensed drivers have taximeters in the cars. When getting inside a car, make sure the taximeter is reset after the previous passenger. Some drivers use passengers’ carelessness and increase the fare.

There are a lot of freelance drivers who take passengers from Yerevan to other cities. As a rule, they work with no taximeters, that is why they can tell any price for a trip, usually increasing the fare twice or three times. Be careful and do not get into the car of an unlicensed driver. Also, always keep the change on you to avoid any problems with the payment.

Standard fare for the first 5 kilometers is 1,3 dollars, and every next kilometer costs 25 cents. An hour - long trip to Tsaghkadzor ski resort will cost you at least 32 dollars, whereas a route to Batumi will cost you 40 dollars.

Transfer from Yerevan

Public transport from Yerevan

There are two airports in Yerevan: Zvartnots and Erebuni, and both of them are functioning well. The first airport is international and located 12 km away from the city center. It has a transit zone, serving annually up to 3,5 million people. The second one combines both civil and military airport, and it is located 8 km far from Yerevan. This airport nowadays is used by the Russian army. Helicopters take off from here often to carry out the flights around Armenia and CIS.

There is also the train station in the city, from which trains depart to Armavir, Araks, Gyumri, Ararat, Yeraskh, and Hrazdan. There are two international trains as well: in winter - between Yerevan and Tbilisi, in summer - between Yerevan and Batumi.

From Central bus station, transport runs to international directions: to Tbilisi, to Stepanakert, and Turkey.

Yerevan: useful information

Yerevan was founded in 782 B.C. and is considered to be one of the oldest cities in the world. It is located on the Hrazdan River in scenic Ararat valley.
