The driver met me upon my arrival to the airport and provided a smooth transportation to girona, even though it was late at night. Haneda Airport: Transfers and Taxi

Transfers from Haneda Airport

Pre-booked transfers from Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) are the quickest and most comfortable way to get to different districts of Japan’s capital city and its other air hub — Narita, as well as the city of Yokohama and its famous cruise port.

Here is why this travel option will be a good choice:

  1. You can avoid long waiting times at public transport stops and changes on the way, as well as looking for an available car at the taxi stand. The driver will pick you up right upon your arrival: he will be waiting for you inside the terminal holding a sign with your name on it. He will help you carry your baggage to the car and drive you directly to the doors of your accommodation.

  2. You can make a prepayment for your travel in the desired currency. Thus, you won’t have to waste your time at a currency exchange point buying the local currency.

  3. You can book a large car or a car with a few child seats. Note that finding such taxis on-site may be quite difficult.

This transport option will save you plenty of stress in case of a late night arrival.

The distance from the air hub to the city of Tokyo is 15 kilometers. Using the Kiwitaxi transfer, you’ll reach your hotel in the city in approximately half an hour. The price for the trip is 138 USD.

Taxi from Haneda Airport

Taxi stands can be found outside the terminal buildings — they all are clearly signposted, so you won’t have difficulties finding them. Flat rates apply when you take a taxi from official ranks.

Taxi travel from Tokyo Haneda Airport to Central Tokyo will cost you between 5,000 and 11,000 JPY or between 47 and 103 USD depending on the destination and the time of your travel (fares are 20% more expensive between 22:00 and 05:00). Also, be ready for some expressway fees.

It’s advised that you have your exact destination address written down on paper, as not all local taxi drivers speak English. If you don’t want to bother with that and worry about possible language barrier, choose a transfer: in this case, you won’t have to explain anything to your driver, as he’ll receive all the necessary info well in advance.

Public Transport from Haneda Airport

There are two ways to reach the city by public transport:

  1. By rail. Getting to downtown requires a change: first, you’ll need to take either the Keikyu Line (300 JPY) or the Tokyo Monorail (500 JPY), and then you’ll need to change to the JR train (160-170 JPY). The total journey time to downtown is around 30 mins. Trains leave every 5 mins until midnight. They run from all terminals.

  2. By bus. Limousine Bus services can take you to major train stations and hotels in Tokyo. Using this option, you’ll reach downtown in 45 mins for 930 JPY. Buses stop at all terminals, as well. Be ready to spend 30 mins at the stop. At night, buses are also available, but they’re less frequent and cost twice as much at that time.

Some public transport services can take you to the other Tokyo air hub — Narita, as well as to some nearby cities.

Public transport may be very crowded at peak hours.

Booking a Transfer from Haneda Airport

Reservations need to be made at least 24 hours in advance, but even if you make one later, we’ll try to find an available car for you.

To make a reservation, choose the route, pick the desired vehicle class, and specify the date and time of your journey. For a more comfortable ride, you can add some extra services to your reservation (for example, an additional stop along the route or a bottle of drinking water).

You can make a prepayment for your ride with your bank card. Once you’ve done that, you’ll get an email confirming your reservation.
