Transfers vs. Other Ways to Get from Rhodes Diagoras Airport
Rhodes is the biggest island of Dodecanese archipelago in Greece. Annually, around 4 million people arrive at Diagoras Airport. Most of them are heading to the popular Greece resorts: Faliraki, Ixia, Kallithea, Pefkos, Ialyssos, Lindos, and Kiotari.
How to get from Rhodes Airport to Rhodes town or the other way round
There is15 km between the airport and the city center. There are several transport options to get around:
- blue and white buses of the R.O.D.A. company which run every 15-50 minutes. They start operating at 06:30 in the morning and finish around midnight. Tickets can be bought in the kiosk at the bus stop or from a driver. Buses stop 300m away from the terminal exit, opposite the coffee shop.
- taxi from Diagoras, which can be taken at the airport or booked via the app;
- private transfers from Rhodes Airport booked in advance.
After 00:10 it is not possible to get to the city center by bus. If you are arriving at night, book a transfer in advance or take a taxi.
Transfer from Rhodes Diagoras Airport vs. Taxi booked via the app or taken on the spot
Advantages of a private transfer
No need to search for Wifi or buy a sim card. “Diagoras” is not just a civil airport, but a base of the Greek Air Forces and NATO. That’s why you will not find Wi-Fi in the building. Of course, you can try to buy a local sim card, but it’s another story.
No complexities. Uber doesn’t work on Rhodes. With our service it is easier: you book it in advance from home in your native language, and it meets you at the airport.
Disadvantage of a private transfer
More expensive. The price of a taxi from Rhodes Airport to Rhodes town is around 20 euro, whereas our service on the same route will cost you 32 euro.
Transfer vs. Taxi from Rhodes Airport taken on the spot
Advantages of a private transfer
Book in your native language. Kiwitaxi booking form is available in 5 languages including English. Besides, our 24-hour client support service is ready to help you in any situation and can find you an English-speaking driver, if necessary.
No fights with taxi drivers. Rhodes faces the same problem with illegal taxi drivers as other cities in Greece: they manipulate the meter, round up the final sum in their favor and act up, if you catch them red-handed. Threats to call the police or the hotel do not help. If you have no desire to waste your time and nerves getting in an argument with taxi drivers, choose a transfer.
Disadvantage of a private transfer
Minimum 10 euro more expensive. Taxi will take you to the city center for approximately 22 euro.
Transfer from Rhodes Airport vs. Buses
Advantages of a private transfer
No changes and searching for a bus. Getting from the airport to Rhodes center is half the battle. After that, you need to find the right bus, which goes in the direction of your hotel. Buses R.O.D.A. go to the west (Ialyssos, Kremasti, Mariza, Pastida) from the stop in the Averof street. Buses of the KTELС company set off from Rimini square to the east (Kallithea, Faliraki, Lindos, Kolymbia). Learn in advance, in which part of Rhodes your hotel is located, to avoid confusion.
Available 24/7. Bus timetables change without a notice, and some buses do not run at the weekend at all. With transfer it is different: you can book a car for any weekday and can be sure the driver will arrive on time.
Minimum twice as fast. Depending on the frequency of trips and time of a day, the interval between buses may vary from 15 to 50 minutes. The trip itself will take another 40 minutes. By transfer you can get from Rhodes airport to Rhodes town, Ixia or Faliraki in 25 minutes, and to Kallithea — in 35 minutes.
Disadvantage of a private transfer
Much more expensive. A bus trip from the airport to the city center will cost you 2,20 euro, whereas a transfer trip — 32 euro. A trip to Kallithea with a change in Rhodes will cost 4,60 euro, and by transfer — 36 euro.
