Transfers vs. Other Ways to Get from Pula Airport
Pula International Airport (Zračna Luka Pula) is located on the Istrian Peninsula in Croatia. This small air hub serves around 400 thousand passengers a year. It is chosen by tourists who are heading to Croatian destinations such as Rovinj, Medulin, Banjole, Porec, Umag, Klenovica, Opatija, or to the northeastern Italy.
How to get from Pula Airport to Pula city center or the other way round
It is just 6 km between the airport and the city. In order to get to the city center, you can choose one of the following transport options:
- a shuttle to the central bus station (Pula Autobusni kolodvor). The number of trips depends on the day of the week and may vary (from 2 to 8 trips a day). Shuttles run at different time, from 08:45 to 22:00. The stop can be found next to the exit of the arrivals area. Tickets can be bought on the FILS Pula website or from the driver (in this case, they will be 1 euro more expensive);
- a taxi which can be taken on the spot;
- a transfer booked online in advance.
Those who are arriving at night can leave the airport only by transfer or taxi. However, you won’t be able to order a taxi using an app: there are neither local nor world aggregators like Uber in Pula.
Transfer vs. Taxi from Pula Airport taken on the spot
Advantages of a private transfer
Available in 7 languages. One can order a taxi at the airport stand, on the website of the Taxi Pula airport company, or by calling at 970. But these options will suit only those travelers who are not afraid of the language barrier: some information may be in Croatian. The Kiwitaxi website is available in seven languages, and our customer support team is at your disposal 24/7.
You may be sure about the price. If you don’t negotiate the trip cost with a local driver beforehand, the final journey cost may be much higher than you expected. Transfer prices are always fixed, so you’ll have nothing to worry about.
Disadvantages of a private transfer
5–14 euros more expensive. A trip by taxi from Pula Airport to Pula will cost 15–24 euros. A transfer to any hotel within the city will cost at least 29 euros.
Transfer from Pula Airport vs. Shuttle
Advantages of a private transfer
You don’t depend on sudden changes in timetables. Flight departure times always change, so there is no exact timetable for every day. For example, on one Tuesday shuttle start running at 08:45, and on the other — at 10:40. So it is difficult to calculate the exact departure time.
You don’t have to spend several hours waiting. Traveling to the city by shuttle will take just 15–20 minutes while waiting for transport will take not less than 1 hour. On certain days, the interval between trips may reach 8 hours. If you book a transfer, you go to your hotel right after you arrive at the airport.
You won’t have to spend the night at the air hub. The last shuttles to the city depart at 22:00, and some of them — even earlier. The Kiwitaxi driver will meet you at the airport at any time of day and will take you to your desired address.
Disadvantages of a private transfer
More expensive even if you’re traveling in a group. One shuttle ticket to Pula costs 23 Croatian kuna (around 3.2 euros). An Economy-class transfer from Pula Airport to the city can be booked for 29 euros.
