How to Get from San Sebastian to Other Destinations
San Sebastian (also called Donostia) is a prestigious resort city in Northern Spain. Annually, hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world come here for holidays. To get from here to other destinations in Spain and Europe, they have several options: public transport, taxis, and private transfers.
Taxi from San Sebastian
If you need a taxi in this city, you may order it via phone or by making a online reservation. Or you may head for one of the ranks (they can be found near bus and railway stations). Also, this service is usually provided at the reception of hotels and hostels. Unlike in other cities, one cannot catch a taxi in San Sebastian on the street. Taxis here operate with a taximeter. They are white vehicles having special signs on top. Taxi fares in the city are one of the highest in Spain. Getting to San Sebastian Airport will cost €38, and to Bilbao Airport - €160.
Transfer from San Sebastian
For those who are going to travel at night and want to plan their ride beforehand, booking a transfer with Kiwitaxi will be the best choice.
On the website, you can choose the desired vehicle and make a full payment with your credit card. At the time specified by you, our transfer driver will meet you, help you with your baggage, and take you to your destination. An Economy-class transfer to San Sebastian air hub will cost you €42.
If you are a large group, you may choose a minibus transfer.
Public transport from San Sebastian
The city air hub can be reached by bus. This trip will cost you €2.45 and will take around 30 minutes.
From the bus terminal, one can go to other cities. Thus, travel to Barcelona will cost from €38.72 (8 hours), and to Bilbao - from €6.65 (1 hour and 20 minutes).
Also, there is a train station in the city center from where one can take trains to all corners of Spain, as well as many cities in France and Portugal.
However, not all modes of public transport operate at night. If you are planning to travel at this time of day, check all timetables in advance or consider reserving a taxi or a transfer.
Useful Information
Golden sand, breathtaking views, and good infrastructure make the beaches of San Sebastian almost perfect. But besides them, there are also lots of amazing sights in the city: Old Town with its gorgeous 19-century buildings, Maria Cristina Bridge, Miramar Palace, the castle on Mount Urgull, the aquarium, and many others. Also, one should try some local cheese, olive oil, wine, and jamón.
