Bratislava Airport: Transfers and Taxi
Transfers from Bratislava Airport
Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia. Although it is the smallest European capital, it is still the biggest city in the country. The city attracts tourists with its castle, traditional European architecture and affordable prices for tourists.
There is one international air hub in the capital, also called M. R. Štefánik or Ivanka. The air hub is approximately 9 km northeast of the city center and receives more than 2 million passengers a year. From the air hub, tourists most often travel to the city center, other Slovakian towns or to Vienna as it is only one hour away by car.
If you chose this city as your holiday destination or plan to travel further from the air hub, you should not only think about your flight and hotel but also how you will get from the air hub to the place of your stay.
Kiwitaxi can help you with that as it provides tourist transfers in more than 100 countries including Slovakia. The transfer saves you time: you will not have to wait at the terminal as your driver will already be there by the time of your arrival. You will save your energy — no running around the air hub with heavy bags trying to find a vacant car. You will travel in comfort: you can have water, book child seats for your children or request a stop on the way. A trip from the air hub to the city center costs from 21 euro and lasts 15 minutes. Other destinations are also available.
Taxi from Bratislava Airport
Taxi stands are usually located outside the Arrivals terminal. The prices are displayed on the info panels near the cabs. A trip to the city center by taxi lasts around 20 minutes and costs 15-20 euro depending on the driver’s tariff.
You can also use a HOPIN app or call Uber but you will have to wait for some time until their arrival. By taxi, you can not only get to the city center but to other places too. For example, the average taxi fare from Bratislava air hub to Vienna is 85 euro. But remember that not every cab driver will agree to drive you if your destination is another town or in another country like Vienna.
There are more than 2 thousand taxi companies in the capital as well as 100+ private drivers who have not registered anywhere and are unlikely to have a license at all. Thus, it is safer to take a cab with the name of a taxi service indicated on it instead of unbranded cars with only checkers on the roof, or book our service.
Public Transport from Bratislava Airport
You can use local buses and trains to get to the capital’s center as well as to other locations. Take bus No. 61 going to the Main Railway Station (Hlavná železničná stanica) or bus No. 96 going to Petržalka, Prokofievova. The journey from the air hub to Main Railway Station takes 25 minutes. The bus departs every 10-20 minutes from 05:00 to 23:00. One-way bus ticket for line No 61 costs around 2 euro for adults. You can also take a bus to Vienna with local bus companies. Check the prices and timetable on their official websites.
If your final destination is another town in Slovakia, take a bus from the air hub to the Main Railway Station, from which you can take a train to the place of your holiday.
Public transport may be cheaper but it rarely offers the same amount of comfort that car services provide.
