Transfers vs. Other Ways to Get from Dubrovnik Airport
The International airport of Dubrovnik is located near the village of Čilipi, 15 km away from the city center. With the release of the "The Game of Thrones" series, which, among other places, was filmed in Croatia, the city turned into a mecca for all the fans of this show. In July-August, the passenger traffic at the airport is over the top, since holidaymakers start arriving along with geeks. One can get from this air hub not only to Dubrovnik itself, but also to the hotels, beaches, and ports of Montenegro in Tivat and Budva.
In addition, tourists usually visit the Croatian cities of Cavtat, Kotor, Split Orašac, Mlini, and Molunat.
How to get from Dubrovnik Airport to Dubrovnik city center or the other way round
One can travel along this route by:
- Atlas Company's shuttle. Its schedule is set up for the arrival of the planes and is drawn up a few days in advance. You can find it on the official airport website. This shuttle will take you to Dubrovnik in 30 minutes;
- city buses of the Libertas Company № 11, 27, 38. Buses leave the airport at 6:00, 6:45, 8:00, 12:25, 16:45, 18:25 and do not work on weekends and holidays; their travel time is 50 minutes;
- taxi. One can find a taxi at a special parking lot, order it by phone or via a mobile application;
- transfer. You can book it on the official Kiwitaxi web site.
You can pay for a shuttle ticket in euros, while city buses accept only the local currency - kunas.
Transfer vs. Taxi from Dubrovnik Airport (taken on the spot or ordered via the app)
Advantages of a private transfer
Be the first to reach the beach. In Dubrovnik Airport, you will have to wait for a taxi for at least 10-15 minutes or even longer during the tourist season. The transfer from Dubrovnik Airport to Dubrovnik awaits you at the specified time, so you do not waste your precious resting time.
No inflated prices. Taxi from Dubrovnik Airport to Dubrovnik is very expensive (even compared to neighboring resorts). In addition, taxi tariffs increase by 20% on weekends and holidays and by 10-15% - during rush hours. You can spend the same 35 euros on the transfer, but our driver will arrive on time, help you with luggage, drive carefully, and there will definitely be an air-conditioner in a car.
Cheaper for a group. If you order a minivan for 7 people, it will cost 40 euros. But if you choose a taxi, you will have to order two vehicles, which makes it cost 70 euros. Even the transfer of a premium-class 6-seater minivan is cheaper: it costs 56 euros.
Take a photo near the Royal Harbor. Taxi drivers in Dubrovnik are interested in driving you to the place as quickly as possible in order to take another customer, so they are reluctant to make stops. Our driver will always agree to do that.
No need to pretend. If a taxi driver in Dubrovnik understands that you do not know the city well, he/she will turn on a "special" tariff for foreigners, and you will pay for a taxi trip a higher price.
Transfer from Dubrovnik Airport vs. Shuttle Bus
Advantages of a private transfer
Baggage is already included in the price. On the shuttle, you will have to pay extra for the baggage.
Group travel is more profitable. Shuttle ticket costs 5.3 euros per person. The transportation of each piece of luggage is 1.5 euros. Even if the travelers have only two suitcases with them, the trip will cost 40 euros. Our minivan for seven people has the same price.
No need to wait for transport. The transfer arrives at the time specified in the boking. The shuttle schedule does not take into account all flights, so waiting for the bus can take 30-50 minutes.
You will not be late for your flight. Shuttles should set off to the airport two hours before the departure of the next flight, but in fact, there are significant delays.
Disadvantage of a private transfer
It is more expensive if you are traveling light or in a small group. Transfer in the economy-class car for four people will cost you 35 euros. The price of the shuttle for four people, even if everyone has a suitcase, will be 27 euros.
Transfer from Dubrovnik Airport vs. City Bus
Advantages of a private transfer
Available at any time. There are very few bus routes: four from the airport, and six to the airport. At the same time, they do not run on holidays and weekends.
Reach the destination twice as fast. The transfer will take you to the place in 25 minutes, the bus - in 50 minutes.
No need to exchange currency at the airport. City buses accept only Croatian kunas.
Disadvantage of a private transfer
Much more expensive. A bus ticket costs only 3.7 euros.
