How to Get from Lisbon City Center to Lisbon Airport and Other Destinations
With its seven hills, cobbled streets, and gothic architecture, the capital of Portugal is the largest city in the country. Lisbon has a lot to offer whether you are there for business or pleasure. You can arrive at the air hub not far from the city center and then use public transport from trams to metro to get around.
Taxi from Lisbon
Taxi service in Lisbon is very widespread, and you can call a taxi from wherever you are, or you can hail a cab on the street. Taxi cabs are painted in cream colour and all registered. A thing so many tourists are afraid of, ripping off customers by drivers, is not very common since they are supposed to use meters. It is likely that your driver does not speak English but they use navigation devices so you will not end up somewhere else! The taxi fare to or from Lisbon Airport costs around €15 but you should keep in mind that drivers charge more for waiting or if it is after 9 pm. Also, be sure to fasten your seatbelt since the drivers are famous for their hectic driving.
Transfer from Lisbon
When you don’t want to deal with worry over your transport once you set foot in the air hub, Kiwitaxi transfer company is the best choice. You can plan your transfer in advance and don’t have to frantically search for taxis in the crowd. Besides, you can book a transfer online and pay by credit card to secure the price. Our transfer drivers will help you in the best way possible. You can book your transfer directly from the city center to the airport with the price starting from €18 for 4 passengers.
Public Transport from Lisbon
To get to the city center from the air hub, you have two options: the bus and the metro. Between the two, metro being the faster option gets you to the city center in 25 minutes. Metro service works from 6 am to 1 am, and you can buy one way or daily tickets at the kiosks. Nevertheless, in the airport, the line for the tickets might take 15 to 20 minutes and might be a bit frustrating. But you can buy Lisbon Card to use it in all kinds of transportation in Lisbon.
As for buses, there are night ones, city ones, and Aero Bus. The latter is your best option to go to the airport with its extra place for luggage and a limited number of stops. Buses also have screens in them to track stops. If Aero Bus is not available, you can take city routes but they have longer routes. Both options cost around €6.
Lisbon Must Do’s
The city is filled with history: visit the Jeronimos Monastery, Unesco cultural heritage the Tower of Belem, the 110-meters-high Christ statue with a panoramic view of Lisbon. A little away from the city, you can combine culture and outdoor opportunities with Fronteira Palace from the 17th century. Be sure to visit Fatima, the Catholic sanctuary with its story of a converted princess.
Take a train to Sintra to visit Pena Palace or go to Cascais for a delightful coastal experience. If you want to see the second biggest city in Portugal, hop on a train to Porto and in two and a half hours you can taste the famous wine of the city.
