How to Get from Szeged to Other Destinations
Szeged, the third largest Hungarian city, attracts people because of its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful architecture. Therefore, visitors often wonder, how to get from Szeged to other cities, Budapest in particular. When ones read about taxi and transfer companies, others choose buses or trains.
Taxi from Szeged
A taxi to the capital will cost you about 30,000 HUF (94 euros). The journey will take about 2 hours. Unfortunately, it is not easy to find an official taxi in the city. You can call for a taxi, but keep in mind that consultants in companies usually do not speak English. However, you can ask a receptionist at your hotel to do it for you. Avoid hailing a taxi, as there are many scammers, who take longer routes, name sky-high prices and do not give change.
Transfer from Szeged
Some people do not like searching for bus or taxi stations, especially when they have a lot of luggage. If you are among them, you might be interested in a transfer. The Kiwitaxi company is ready to provide you with comfort and good service. A driver will meet you near your hotel or at the reception desk, in case it is possible. Our fares do not change after the booking is made. A transfer in an economy-class car to the capital will cost you 120 euros, the same price for a transfer to Ferenc Liszt Airport.
If you travel in a big group, you might choose a minivan or a minibus. Thus, the tariff of a transfer for 7 persons to Budapest city center or the airport is 195 euros.
Public transport from Szeged
Public transport is not as comfortable as taxi and transfer services, however, a lot of people choose it, mostly because of low prices. You can easily reach other Hungarian cities by trains and buses. For example, a train from Szeged to the capital departs every 1-2 hours. The trip takes about 2h 20 minutes, and the price is about 4000 HUF (12 euros). Check the final destination and plan your trip in advance, as there are several railway stations in Budapest. Public transport is not available at night, so ordering a transfer service could be a perfect option for you at that time of the day.
Interesting Information
One of the most popular sights in Szeged is the Cathedral of Our Lady, which is famous for its beautiful frescoes. It is also the 4th tallest building in Hungary. The cathedral is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the entrance is free.
