Transfers vs. Other Ways to Get from Geneva Airport
The International Airport of Geneva is located on the border between France and Switzerland near the village of Cointrin. Citizens of both these countries actively use it, and the airport building is even conditionally divided into French and Swiss sectors. From 00:00 to 04:00, the airport is closed for maintenance. However, passengers do not have to go out of the building. Usually, tourists go from Geneva to the ski resorts of France: Chamonix, Courchevel, Val Thorens, Méribel, Annecy, Lausanne, Montreux; and of Sweden: Verbier and Zermatt.
How to get from Geneva Airport to Geneva City Center or the other way round
Geneva Airport is just 4 km away from the city center. There are several ways to get from here to the city or other destinations:
- train. It runs every 15 minutes from 05:00 to 23:50 and its travel time is only 6 minutes. The railway station is located on the same floor as the arrival zone. Railway signs will help you not to get lost;
- bus. You can reach the city center by buses № 5, 10, 23, 28, 57, F, Y. Buses run every 15 minutes from about 05:00 to 00:00. If there are no traffic jams, the travel time is 20 minutes. The stop is located near the railway station;
- trolleybus №10. The schedule is the same as for buses;
- taxi. You can find a taxi in a special parking lot, order it by phone or via a mobile application;
- transfer. On our website, you can order private transfers from Geneva Airport even to ski resorts.
If you booked a hotel or hostel, you can get a ticket that allows you to travel on any public transport for an hour free. You can take it at a special ticket machine in the baggage claim area.
Transfer vs. Taxi from Geneva Airport to the City Center (taken on the spot or ordered via the app)
Advantages of a private transfer
Avoid scandals. The situation with the taxi company Uber in Geneva is constantly changing. First, the Swiss government banned it, then allowed it, and then the taxi drivers unsatisfied with salaries began to strike. Nobody knows which outcomes the situation may have next time.
You will not accidentally go to France. If you get lost in the airport, you can accidentally go to the French sector, while the Geneva taxi will be waiting for you on the Swiss side. The driver of our transfer service will meet you at the arrival zone and walk you to the car.
Fixed price. Taxi prices rise by 20% at night, on weekends, and holidays. The transfer price remains unchanged after the prepayment.
Disadvantage of a private transfer
Twice as expensive. Taxi from Geneva Airport to the city center usually costs 40 euros, while the transfer costs 80 euros.
Transfer from Geneva Airport vs. City Bus
Advantages of a private transfer
No changes. If you are using public transport, you still need to reach your hotel after you get to the right bus stop. This cannot be convenient if you are traveling with children and large luggage as we also provide minibuses and vehicles of a bigger capacity.
Travel at night. Public transport stops working at 00:00, while the transfer is available around the clock.
You will not confuse tariff zones. You need to buy a ticket for public transport for the tariff zone 10 (Tout Genève). It is quite large, therefore, it costs as much as two usual zones. This confuses tourists. Fine for the "wrong" ticket is quite high - 85 euros.
You will not get confused with types of tickets. A regular ticket, valid for 60 minutes, costs 3 euros. An inexpensive ticket for 1.7 euros allows you to travel only for short distances (no more than 3 stops).
Disadvantage of a private transfer
Much more expensive. A single ticket price for all public transport within Geneva costs 3 euros. The transfer costs 80 euros.
