How to Get from Al Maktoum International Airport to Dubai City Center and Other Destinations
With a rich history besides being a financial center, this city never loses its attraction with tourists. To enjoy shopping malls, beaches and food from all corners of the Middle East, hop on a plane and arrive in Al Maktoum, located 30 minutes away from the famous Palm. There are two airports here you can use. And Al Maktoum Airport is the newest one that was opened to passenger flights in 2013 to share the load with Dubai International Airport.
Taxi from Al Maktoum Airport
Taxis are the favored way of transportation in Dubai. Taxi service from Al Maktoum is faster than public transport and more importantly, they are metered and not expensive. If you prefer female drivers, pay attention to the pink-roofed ones. At the airport, taxis are waiting in a line at every terminal. The fare from the airport will start from AED25 because of the flag charge of AED12. Make sure to use official taxis since there might be people approaching you with offers to drive you from Al Maktoum without a fixed fare.
Transfer from Al Maktoum Airport
If you do not want to look for taxis and wait in line, you can book a transfer with Kiwitaxi from Al Maktoum Airport to your hotel in advance starting from €74 for four people. You can make a full prepayment online and choose a car from options of the economy, comfort transfers or minivans depending on the number of people. Place your order and your transfer driver will be waiting to pick you up at Al Maktoum with a sign with a nameplate. You can also book a transfer to Abu Dhabi or various resorts. Public Transport from Al Maktoum Airport
To get to the city center from the Al Maktoum International Airport, you can find buses across every terminal exit. Two bus lines 55 and 55A can take to to the city. You need to buy the travel card since the drivers do not accept cash. The fare from Al Maktoum Airport to the city will cost AED10 but you have to change between buses and metro lines and keep in mind the working hours and special Friday hours.
