Transfers vs. Other Ways to Get from Malaga Costa del Sol Airport
International Airport of Malaga is located in the south of Spain, in the region of Costa del Sol. This a pretty large air hub with three terminals which handles mainly tourists heading to luxurious resorts of Costa del Sol coast: Marbella, Estepona, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Torremolinos and others.
How to get from Malaga Airport to Malaga City Center or the other way round
The distance between the airport and the center is approximately 13 km. To get to your hotel or to the railway station one can by taking:
- city buses (L19), which depart from the main exit of the arrivals terminal and reach the central park of Malaga in 30 minutes. There are as well express buses (№ 75), which can take you to the city center in 15 minutes;
- commuter trains RENFE (C1 line), which operate from 6:30 to 0:30. By these trains you can get to the main train station of Maria Zambrano in 20 minutes;
- taxi, taken on the spot;
- transfer booked in advance.
Tourist feedback about Malaga transport varies: from excited to critical. Everyone should make his/her own choice. One thing is clear: there are no night public transport routes, which causes a lot of trouble.
Transfer vs. Taxi from Malaga Airport, taken on the spot
Advantages of a private transfer
You will always get your change. Taxi drivers at Malaga Airport have an unspoken rule not to give a change from notes worth more than 20 euros. If you failed to exchange your money, you will probably face this situation. Kiwitaxi drivers will give you every single euro back.
The tariff is always the same. Taxi service in Malaga Airport has two tariffs: standard and night rate (which also applies to weekends and holidays). And do not forget about additional fees for entering and leaving the airport territory, fee for bulky baggage etc. In case of transfer from Malaga Airport, there are no hidden costs as the price is fixed.
You can travel in a group. It is often difficult to find a taxi for a group of 5 or more: you can be told there are no available cars or you have to wait. With Kiwitaxi it is possible to order a transport even for 19 people and travel together in a minibus.
Disadvantage of a private transfer
2 euro more expensive, which means 27 euro for the transfer versus 25 euro for taxi from Malaga Airport.
Transfers from Malaga Airport vs. Commuter trains
Advantages of a private transfer
You will not miss your stop. In Malaga RENFE trains there is no electronic display, so the stops are announced over a P.A. quietly and indistinctly. You can miss or misunderstand it and get puzzled.
You can travel from the airport any time. Commuter trains have a flexible timetable, which depends on a weekday: on on2e day you can travel after midnight, on the other - not.
Disadvantage of a private transfer
Much more expensive, than a commuter train ticket which costs only 1,8 euro.
