How to Get from Bar to the Airport and Other Destinations
Bar is a resort city in Montenegro located on the Adriatic Sea coast. There are three ways to get from Bar to Kotor, Budva, Herceg Novi, as well as the airports of Dubrovnik, Podgorica, and Tivat: by public transport, taxi, or prebooked transfer.
Taxi from Bar
Taxi is one of the most popular modes of transport with newbie travelers, those who are travelling with small children or have a lot of baggage.
To book a car to leave the resort is rather easy: you just need to make an order via phone or using an online mobile app. Almost all hotels in Bar have free Wi-Fi, so calling a taxi will be cheaper if you choose the second option.
The major taxi companies in Montenegro are Red Taxi and AlloTAXI. If you choose one of these services, be ready to pay around 0.4–0.8 euro for each km. The price for a taxi ride from Bar will also depend on the distance to the destination, time of day and number of passengers.
But if you want a cheaper travel option, you can take a private taxi. But note that private drivers do not always drive carefully, so if you are concerned about your safety, it is better to book a car with one of official taxi companies in Bar.

Public transport from Bar
If you prefer saving money on travel, you can leave the city by public transport – bus or train. The bus station in Bar operates 24/7, from May till September. You can get from there to almost all Montenegrin towns. The bus fare is from 1.5 to 5 euros.
If you are fond of travelling by train, head to the railway station. To get from there to Podgorica Airport, take a commuter train which runs 5 times per day. The ticket cost is around 3 euros, and the travel time to the airport is 1 hour.
Bar: useful information
Today, Bar is one of the largest beach resorts in Montenegro. One can find both a pebble beach located in the very heart of the town and a sandy one - Red Beach. There are lots of bays on the coast where one can enjoy breathtaking landscapes and take a swim.
The town is divided into two parts – New and Old. Old Bar has a great number of sights, the most famous of them are a stone aqueduct, a tower with clocks, and the Omerbasica Mosque. There are also some abandoned houses in the town which are covered with dense thickets of grass. Besides that, you can also enjoy fruit gardens and olive groves endlessly.
New Bar is located a 5-minute drive from the Old Town. It is where you can find beaches. Besides, here you can visit the Church of St. Nicholas, and if you go outside the town – enjoy the clear air in coniferous and cypress forests.
Besides all this, in Bar, one can visit Topolica – the largest market on the Adriatic coast. Here, one can purchase almost everything – from souvenirs to food. Tourists should definitely try some local goat cheese and a dried carp.
