How to Get to Courmayeur
Situated at the southern bottom of Mont Blanc, Courmayeur is a well-known ski resort in the Italian Alps. If planning your trip there remember to map out the way from the air terminal to the town. In this article, we share tips on getting from nearby air hubs to the resort by taxi, transfer, and public transport.
Taxi to Courmayeur
Usually taxi ranks are located in front of the air terminals. Cab drivers working at Geneva air terminal rarely accept orders for trips outside Switzerland, and if they do, they ordinarily offer flat rates. An average taxi journey to Courmayeur will cost 260-300 euros and take around 1,5 hours. As for Turin Airport, depending on a service, prices may be either fixed or meter-based. Getting to the resort by taxi will make 230-270 euros and 1,5 hours of travel.
Transfer to Courmayeur
Pre-booking a transfer is a way to arrange a guaranteed transportation from one point to another in advance. You simply fill in the online reservation, choosing a suitable vehicle class (a minibus for a larger company) and may stay sure your car will be waiting for you in the exact place and at the agreed time.
To order a Kiwitaxi transfer, provide pick-up time and place, a drop-off address, a number of passengers and child seats needed. Depending on a chosen car class, a trip to Courmayeur from Geneva air hub will cost from 252 euros and take 1,5 hours. A transfer from Turin hub will last 1,5 hours as well, and a fare will start from 258 euros. Kiwitaxi provides fixed fares that mainly depend on offered vehicle classes. You may pay either online by card when booking a transfer or in cash to a driver after reaching the destination.
With Kiwitaxi, you can save considerable time, as you won’t need to wait in taxi or public transport queues. You’ll start your trip at once after passing the customs, and get to the destination safely and fast.
Public Transport to Courmayeur
To reach the resort by local transportation, you should take a train to Geneva first, and then a direct bus to the town. The journey lasts around 3,5 hours and costs 13-24 euros per ticket. If departing from Turin air hub, you may take a shuttle bus going to the city center, and get off at the station Porta Nuova, where you’ll have to take a train to Aosta. There, you can finally catch a bus 665 to the resort. The whole trip will cost about 28 euros per ticket and take 5-6 hours.
The town is known as Italy’s best all-year-round winter sports resort and a popular travel destination among hikers in summer. Courmayeur's French sister town Chamonix is located on the opposite side of Mont Blanc.
