How to Get to Grindelwald
The ski resort of Grindelwald is situated in the Swiss canton of Bern, at an altitude of 1,034 m above sea level. This place is often called ‘Glacier Village’ due to the glaciers descending from the Jungfrau mountain to the very village. If you’re planning a trip to this amazing place, you might be interested in how to get there from the nearby locations. So, you may use public transport, taxis, and transfers for that.
Taxi to Grindelwald
Taxi cabs are a fast and comfortable way to reach the resort. At airports, they can be taken from ranks near the terminals or ordered via desks within the terminal buildings. The average price for a taxi trip to Grindelwald from Bern Airport (70 km) is €190, from Zurich one (153 km) - €270, and from Geneva one (232 km) - €370. Note that if you’re traveling with a big group or have large ski equipment with you, it might be difficult to find a spacious vehicle. Also, not all taxi drivers will be ready for a long-distance ride.
Transfer to Grindelwald
Using a private transfer is the quickest and most reliable way to reach the resort of Grindelwald. You don’t have to look and wait for a car at the air hub (unlike taxis), as the driver will already be waiting for you there when your flight arrives. There are several vehicle classes you can choose from, so if you’re traveling with your big family or a large group of friends, you may easily choose a minibus transfer. An Economy-class journey to the resort from Zurich air hub costs €315, and from Geneva one - €504. Also, you may reserve a return transfer.
If you have any questions about our transfers, the Kiwitaxi customer support team will always be glad to answer them.
Public Transport to Grindelwald
Grindelwald can be reached from Zurich Airport by train. This trip will take about 3 hours and will require 2 changes (one in Bern and one in Interlaken). The fare will depend on the train type: the second-class ride will cost 42.60 CHF (around €38).
Train travel from Geneva air hub will also require two changes (in the same locations). The travel time is about 4 hours. The second-class fare is 42.60 CHF, as well.
However, note that you won’t get to the village at nighttime using these services as they don’t operate at this time. So, for night travel, it would be better to pre-book a taxi cab or a private transfer.
