Transfer in Peru
Peru isn’t the biggest country in the world but what an interesting one! It is divided into three large (natural) areas: the ‘costa’, the ‘sierra’ and the ‘selva’. The ‘costa’ is a narrow line of sandy desert that lies along the Pacific Ocean coast. It is here where the famous Nazca plateau, with its mysterious Lines and Geoglyphs, is found. The ‘selva’ is an area of rainforest and is part of the Amazon jungle, which has been a source of inspiration for many writers and film directors. In between the costa and the selva, there is a mountain range - the ‘sierra’. The Inca Civilisation established itself here in the Andes, and its main cultural landmark, the Machu Picchu citadel, is also situated here.
Transport system is quite well-developed here: you can travel by bus in Peru if you want to save money. But in case you have a lot of luggage, it is better to look for a car.
If you need a taxi in Peru you can order it by phone as well as through mobile apps, or being in a big city, find one in the special car parks. There are many private taxis in this country but it is not recommended to use them, especially if you’re on your own or at night, as there is a high possibility of criminal attacks. Official taxis in Peru are colored yellow with a phone number on the side. Taximeters are not in use here so it’s better to agree on the price before the journey and write it down in order to avoid any misunderstanding later. It is also worth noting that cars in Peru are normally rather small and the trunk is occupied by a gas tank as petrol is very expensive. There is almost constant traffic in the big cities, especially in the capital city of Lima, which suffers from particularly heavy traffic jams in the mornings and evenings.
