How to Get to Bansko
It is a popular resort town located in the southwestern part of Bulgaria, at the foot of the Pirin Mountains. It’s considered the best ski resort in the country and is visited by thousands of ski lovers annually. As there’s no airport here, most travelers usually go here via other Bulgarian cities. To reach the resort, they use taxi cabs, private transfers, or public transport.
Taxi to Bansko
Taxis at air hubs can be usually found at the terminal exits. If you’re arriving at Sofia Airport, be ready to pay at least €72 to get to Bansko (this price is for a car for up to 3 passengers). A taxi trip to the resort will always be expensive: the most part of the route runs through the mountain area, and not every driver will be ready to drive in such difficult road conditions. Also, ski hotels are situated a little aside from the town, and many drivers wouldn’t like to go farther than its center. If you want to take a taxi from Plovdiv air hub, be ready to pay from €100 for a sedan.
Private Transfer to Bansko
Using a private transfer service will be an ideal option for you if you have large ski equipment or are traveling with a large group. Booking it with Kiwitaxi, you’ll be able to choose a vehicle of almost any capacity. The baggage will already be included in your transfer price. The car will be driven by a professional and experienced driver so that you won’t need to worry about your safety during the trip. An Economy-class taxi transfer from Sofia Airport will cost €75. Getting from Plovdiv air terminal using the same-class car will cost you €102. Also, using a transfer, you may reach the resort from other countries’ locations (for instance, Skopje or Thessaloniki).
Public Transportation to Bansko
The cheapest option to reach Bansko from the nearby cities is by public transport. If you’re heading from Sofia air hub, you’ll first need to get to the capital. To do that, take the bus line 84 (1 BGN or €0.5) to Hotel Pliska and then change to the line 213, 214, 305, or 313 (6 BGN or €3) to the main bus station from there. At the station, take the direct service to Bansko (16 BGN or €8).
Buses can also take you to Bansko from Plovdiv (11 BGN or €6). There are usually only a few departures a day, and all of them are at daytime hours. In the evening and at night, you’ll be able to reach the resort only using taxis or transfers.
Useful Information
Bansko is perfect not only for a ski vacation. Here, one may find lots of interesting places for excursions as well as amazing hot springs in the nearby area.
