It is impossible to get from Rome to Sorrento both directly and with changes at night, but you can do that by using a private transfer. Other kinds of transport operate until evening only. The group transfer departs from Roma Tiburtina station (to which you need to get from the airport) and runs directly to Sorrento station. There is another way to get from Rome to Sorrento with a change in Naples - by Circumvesuviana train. This train departs from Naples central railway station, the final stop is in Sorrento. The journey time is just 1 hour 6 minutes. Tickets can be bought either in a railway ticket office (for EUR 4.5) or online. This is a regular route with a lot of stops. You can get off and take a walk in Pompeii or some another city.
