Before the dissolution of Yugoslavia Sveti Stefan island was extremely popular among world celebrities and was considered the most prestigious resort in Montenegro. It had been abandoned for about 20 years, until it was rented in 2007 by Singaporean company Amanresorts. After that all the old huts were renovated into luxury hotel rooms. From 31st of May 2012 Sveti Stefan is opened only for the resort guests, whereas other tourists settle for the stunning island views from the shore. Except comfortable hotel rooms, bars and restaurants, the resort guests are provided with an interesting sightseeing program. For example, you can visit mountain-mass Durmitor, have a walk in the park in Milocer, which was the property of the royal family. Do not forget to sunbathe on the Queen's beach - one of the most beautiful places in Europe, see the monastery Praskvica and the church built in the rock.

To rent a car without a driver to get from Tivat Airport to Sveti Stefan, it’s enough to provide national driving license and a passport. But it’s better to have an IDL because in the case of an accident insurance companies will deny coverage if you use national driving license. Insurance is included in the price of car rental per day. If you want to travel outside Montenegro purchase international insurance. A renter has to pay fines and buy fuel. It’s possible to rent a car at Tivat Airport, but don’t expect a wide range of cars.
It is possible to get to Sveti Stefan by bus or by taxi. Bus departure stop in the city of Tivat is 20 minutes walk away. As the majority of tourists travel on holiday with large baggage, not everybody would like to walk 1km to the bus departure stop. In this case, it makes sense to book a private transfer, all the more, this option may cost even cheaper than bus, for example, for a big group of people. Have a nice trip!
