The flight takes 1 hour, the plane ticket cost starts from $76. The bus from Bangkok to Koh Chang will take you to the destination in 5-6 hours (depending on the carrier), the ticket cost is $8-9.3. The minibus will get there in 7 hours, the ticket will cost $17. Getting to the island by express bus will take 8 hours, the journey cost is $11. Finally, the Bangkok Koh Chang transfer will get to the destination in 3 hours 25 minutes, but you will have to pay for this trip a minimum of $165. The distance from Bangkok to Koh Chang is 350 km.
Note that all these forms of transport will take you to the pier, and to get from there to the island, you’ll have to take a ferry to Koh Chang. It is more convenient to buy a combined ticket for the express bus or the minibus because it includes the trip by ferry, as well. At night, you can take only the Bangkok to Koh Chang bus. As the route is quite popular, it is better to buy tickets in advance. The only exception is the minibus – the ticket for this type of transport is bought right before getting on the bus.
The main sight of the island is its incredibly beautiful nature. Another wonderful thing about it is its beaches with crystal water and clean sand. However, you don’t need to spend all your vacation lying on the beach! Thus, tourists can take part in a long walk with sleeping in the open air, stroll along the forest paths of the island, or see its waterfalls (Than Mayom, Klong Nueng, Khiri Phet, etc.). One of the most significant to local people places is Chao Po Shrine. You should also visit the Memorial to the heroes of the naval battle.

To rent a car without a driver to get from Bangkok Airport to Koh Chang, you have to provide an IDL, a passport, a health insurance, and photocopies of the documents. There are lots of rental companies in Thailand, but as fraud is quite common, choose certified international firms. ThInsurance is included in the price of car rental per day. Cars are often broken into and stolen, so it’s better to purchase the insurance that covers carjackings. A deposit of $28 is charged. It’s possible to rent a car at Bangkok Airport, if you didn’t have time to do it in advance. Try to use secondary roads and drive carefully: in case of an accident the Thai police usually takes compatriot’s side.
