Travelling by bus from Bangkok to Cambodia is the cheapest option ($22-25), though it is also a long one. The bus departs from Bangkok Northern bus terminal Mo Chit and runs to Siem Reap, its travel time is 7 hours. There are just two journeys per day, both of them are in the morning. Tickets for the bus can be bought at any travel agency on Khao San Road or at Mo Chit bus station. Keep in mind that crossing the border is quite a long process and takes several hours.
There is also another way to get from Bangkok to Cambodia, but it is more troublesome than the previous one. First, you need to get from Bangkok to Aranyaprathet (5 hours, $10), and then from there to the border by tuk tuk (10 minutes, $2).
