How to get from Vung Tau to Other Destinations
It is a seaside Vietnamese city, located in the southern part of the country. For people, planning their journey from Vung Tau to Ho Chi Minh (former Saigon) or other destinations, we share our transportation tips in this short article.
Taxi from Vung Tau
Although local taxi cabs are metered, they’re rather expensive. The closer to beaches taxi drivers operate, the higher prices they offer are. Taxi scam is a widespread thing in city: some drivers drive in circles to increase a fare or raise the rate on the meter after taking an order. To avoid this, get yourself familiar with an estimated price before getting into the car and don’t hesitate to ask questions if you see something’s going wrong. An average taxi trip from Vung Tau to Ho Chi Minh costs 55-70 euros and takes about 2 hours. Very often local cabs don’t provide child seats, keep this in mind if traveling with children.
Transfer from Vung Tau
Compared to uncertainties, offered by taxis, pre-ordered transfers are more reliable. A Kiwitaxi transfer to HCMC or its airport costs from 62 euros and takes an hour and 50 minutes. To pre-book a transfer, you should specify details on your journey: exact pick-up time and place, a number of passengers, child seats, etc. Kiwitaxi provides fixed fares depending on destinations’ farness and car classes (from economy/business for 1-4 people to minivan/minibus for a bigger company). After you pay for the order online or add your card details, you’ll receive the transfer details to your email.
Your driver will be waiting for you at the exact pick-up place and time. After helping you with luggage, he/she will drive you to the destination fast and safely. We hire only licensed transfer drivers and have all vehicles technically inspected.
Public Transport from Vung Tau
Minibuses depart to Saigon from Vung Tau terminal every 20 minutes from 4 am to 7 pm daily. Tickets cost 3-4 euros, and the trip takes 2,5 hours. There’s no designated place for luggage and much space, which is especially uncomfortable for passengers with infants.
A ferry cruises to the port of Ho Chi Minh 4 times a day and it takes 2 hours to reach the destination. Tickets cost from 10 euros and should be booked online in advance.
If you want to get to Phan Thiet town, you may take a bus for 3-5 euros and spend over 4 hours on the trip.
Remember that public transport, unlike transfers and taxis, is available only in the daytime and doesn’t suit you if departing at night.
