How to Get from Yas Island to Other Destinations
Even though Yas Island is famous for its Formula 1 Grand Prix events, for business or pleasure, this place is designed for all purposes from entertainment to relaxing in the greenery and resorts of the island. Thrill-seekers can enjoy Waterworld, once named second best waterpark all around the globe and ride the fastest roller-coaster at Ferrari World. For relaxing activities, you can visit the mall for some shopping, just enjoy the beach with a DJ or play some golf. For dinner or an evening out, head over to the Marina. To get around the area, you have the option of a taxi, a bus, and a private transfer.
Taxi from Yas Island
Silver colored official taxis with yellow signs on top can be flagged down on the street in Yas Island or ordered through a mobile application. To the capital, taxi fare is AED66 and takes 30 minutes. Since the airport is closer to the island than the city, it costs AED34 and takes 15 minutes. To Dubai, it costs AED19 with a longer distance fare. The price also changes with the waiting time and the night tariff starting after 10 pm. All taxis are metered and regulated here. For female visitors, pink taxis driven by female drivers are available.
Public Transport from Yas Island
Public transport in the region is air-conditioned and favored by many. Cash is not accepted on board and you should use Hafilat smart card to travel. You can buy the card from ticket machines and ticket offices. The temporary Hafilat card costs AED5 and you can use it for two weeks with topping up. Bus number 190 goes between Abu Dhabi and Yas Island and costs AED4 for one-way. Even though the airport is close enough, you have to go to Abu Dhabi first which is very time consuming and takes a little more than an hour despite the cheap ticket. Same applies to Dubai connections, you have to backtrack to the city center and go from there with the E100 bus. You can buy your ticket from the counter for AED25 and it takes 2 hours to get there.
Transfer from Yas Island
The backtracking of the public transport causes losing time and despite taxis are metered, there is a waiting fee, a fee for booking on the phone and a night tariff. Due to its fixed price and a comfortable journey especially for families with children, a private transfer is a good option in Yas Island. The price stays the same 24/7 and you can request a child seat for your transfer as well. At Kiwitaxi.com you can book your transfer from Yas Island to Abu Dhabi for €33 or to Dubai for €77. You can pay for your transfer securely on the website or later to your driver. Your transfer driver will pick you up and drive you to your destination.
