How to Get from Sharjah to the Airport and Other Destinations
Sharjah is the third largest city in The United Arab Emirates, which is located on the coasts of two gulfs: the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. This resort is popular with the travellers from around the world. One can get from it to other localities by taxi, transfer and public transport.
Taxi from Sharjah
Taxi in Sharjah is very popular because some places are unreachable for the buses. You can book a car at a hotel at the reception desk or catch it on a road. You should catch only the cars with checkers on their roofs.
Taxi drivers in the Emirates work according to the official tariffs, and each of them has a taximeter inside. Make sure if the meter is off when you get inside, which means the taximeter was reset after the previous client. The fare is indicated in dirhams, so if you pay in dollars, you will have to pay more. It is common not to leave tips.
The price for a taxi in Sharjah can vary: the starting fee in the city is around 1 dollar, at the airport – 6,5 dollars, the minimum fare is 2,7 dollars, and an hour of waiting will cost you 8 dollars. Every 500 meters of the trip will cost you 0,3 dollars, and every kilometer will cost 0,5 dollars. You will be charged extra 5,5 dollars when crossing the city's’ borders within the Emirates.
For example, you will have to pay at least 70 dollars for the trip with taxi service from Sharjah to Dubai, and to Ras al-Khaimah - 101 dollars.
When booking a car, save at least 12 dollars since the taxi drivers sometimes intentionally drive through the traffic jams, choose long-distance routes and do not give change from the small amount of money, pretending that they do not have it.
Transfer from Sharjah
If upon arrival you do not want to figure out how to get to Sharjah or to get from it, make an online transfer booking in advance. It is possible to do this with a few clicks on the Kiwitaxi website.
Having chosen the right route for the right date and the most comfortable car for you, you will see the fare which will not be affected by any external factors, such as traffic jams, flight delays, etc. If you are travelling with children, specify on the site that you need a child seat. You can either make a full prepayment with a credit card or give the amount to a driver at the end of the route.
A 25-minute trip from Sharjah to Dubai International Airport will cost you around 74 dollars, while a two-hour trip to Abu Dhabi will cost approximately 99 dollars.
Having booked a transfer with Kiwitaxi, you will not have to search for public transport around the city or wait for a local taxi, holding heavy luggage. The driver will come at the specified time, will help with the luggage, and take you to the destination point without any problems.
If you still have any questions regarding transfer services, please, call the 24-hour Kiwitaxi support service or contact an online consultant. We will help you to resolve all the issues you can come across.
Public Transport from Sharjah
There is the sea port in Sharjah, the big international airport, and the bus station, which connects the city with other Emirates of the country.
There are 18 intercity routes. In general, transport departs from Al-Jubail Station, which is located in the middle of the Emirate, next to fish, vegetable, and clothing markets. A one-way ticket costs from 1,5 to 8,2 dollars.
It is 15 kilometers from the airport to the city center. One can get from there by buses №14, 15 and 99. The fare will cost 1,4 dollars.
The airport has only one passenger terminal but it is very comfortable: there are shops, cafes, a pharmacy, a local bank outlet, a child’s room, and a nursing room.
