How to Get from Dubai Airport to the City Center
Being one of the world’s busiest air hubs, Dubai Airport (DXB) handles more than 80 million passengers a year. It consists of three passenger, one cargo, and two VIP terminals. Dubai Airport is located about 5 km southeast of the city center. Tourists heading to the city take taxis, transfers, or public transportation.
Taxi from Dubai Airport to the City Center
Taxi ranks at Dubai Airport are located near the exits from all terminals. Local cabs are sand-colored cars with chequers. Also, you may ask the air hub staff to book a vehicle for you. Taxis are metered: the flag charge is 25 AED and the price for each km is 1.96 AED. On average, getting from Dubai Airport to the downtown costs 40 AED (around $11). Also, most people tip local taxi drivers (5 to 10 AED).
Transfer from Dubai Airport to the City Center

The easiest way to get from Dubai Airport to the city center is by metro (Red Line). The fare will depend on the number of transport zones you cross and the type of your card (you cannot pay public transport fares in cash or with your credit card, so you will need to buy a special travel card and charge it up). However, the fare will be from 3 AED (around $1). Keep in mind that the metro doesn’t operate at night (in order to get from Dubai Airport to the city center at this time, you can only order a taxi or a transfer). Also, on Friday, it starts operating only at 10 a.m.
You can also reach the city center by bus. But note that buses make loops through many districts before they reach the city center, so the trip may take a long time.
This place impresses with its luxury. You won’t find such a great number of expensive cars, luxurious hotels, and magnificent villas anywhere else. When here, don’t forget to visit the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Museum, the Emirates Towers, and the Palm Jumeirah island.
