How to Get from Taksim to Other Destinations 

At the heart of the European part of Istanbul, it is a popular destination both for locals and tourists due to its transportation, shopping, nightlife, art, and parades. Be careful of people who might approach you with offers and, in the official taxis, make sure the meter is running. To Atatürk Airport in the European part, the taxi fare is ₺75, around €14. To the Asian side air hub, Sabiha Gökçen, it costs ₺106. But the traffic jam is a huge problem in Istanbul almost at any time and to go from the European side to Asian, you have to cross the bridge which is famous for its traffic jams as much as its scenery. Keep in mind taxi fares will be higher with travel time as well. 

Public Transport from Taksim 

Public transport is the cheapest option. Besides, you have the options of buses, trams, and metro to travel from Taksim. You can’t pay in cash and have to buy an Istanbulkart that costs ₺6 and you can top up at ticket machines. From this district to Sultanahmet, you can take the funicular F1 to Kabataş station and take the tram from there to Sultanahmet. It costs ₺5.2 and takes 25 minutes. To Atatürk Airport, there is a direct metro line from Taksim Square and it costs ₺2.6 and takes 12 minutes since it is underground and unaffected by the traffic jams.
