Bangkok Airports: Transfers and Taxi
Transfers from Bangkok Airports
The Thai capital is served by two international air hub: Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Don Mueang (DMK). If your plane lands a night which is often the case for both international and domestic flights, you will not be able to take a bus or train, and even a cab service will be less available.
In this case, we recommend you booking the Kiwitaxi service in advance. Upon your landing at the air hub, your driver will be waiting for you at the arrivals area holding a sign with your name indicated on it. He/she will walk you straight to the car and begin the ride to the downtown immediately. You will not have to spend any extra time on looking for a means of transportation or bargaining with local drivers, which is often dangerous.
When in the car, you can relax after a long flight, have a nap, or enjoy the views of the city on your way.
If you are arriving during the day, the service will still be pretty much handy: you will not have to carry your luggage across the huge air hub; you can have a vehicle meeting all your needs as well as use several additional services.
Suvarnabhumi is 32 km from the capital, and Don Mueang - 23 km. By airport transfer from Bangkok, you will reach the city from both air hubs in 45 minutes. The cost of a trip starts at 35 and 38 dollars respectively. You can also book a transfer between Bangkok airports.
Taxi from Bangkok Airports
There are many taxi drivers waiting at the terminal exits. Some of them are licensed drivers and some of them are private. If you prefer taking a taxi, it is recommended to use the service of official metered cabs, which are pretty affordable. The ride by taxi from Bangkok Airports to the city or between the air hubs will cost you a maximum of 25 dollars. The ride with unlicensed drivers may cost you up to 3 times more. To have a ride, you need to purchase a ticket and proceed to the specified lane.
The taxi service is a convenient and affordable option to get to your hotel or to the city centre. However, if you are on holiday with your children, you will unlikely to find cabs with child seats or those which are spacious enough to fit all your family members and luggage.
Public Transport from Bangkok Airports
There are public buses going from the terminals. They operate 24 hours and usually depart from the Transport Center to which you can get by free shuttle bus. The fare starts at 1 dollar.
The public bus will take you to the capital’s different districts. There are more than 11 bus lines departing from the Transport center.
From Don Muang, you can take a bus, too. The ride lasts 40 minutes. The train service is also available. The trip will take 1 hour. Taking the bus is the cheapest option with prices starting at just 1 dollar.
