How to Get from Granada Airport to City Center and Other Destinations
Federico Garcia Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport is the air gate serving the city and province of Spain’s Granada. People visiting the city most often arrive at this air hub and need to know how to reach the city and other nearby places. We’ve collected available transportation options and share them in this article.
Taxi from Granada Airport
Although there are officially determined flat prices for trips to popular destinations, rates differ as they usually do. Knowing average taxi fares, you can avoid overcharges. Generally, you’ll need to pay around 27-30 euros for a 30-minute trip to Granada downtown. Getting to Sierra Nevada by taxi will cost approx. 75-80 euros and take an hour. Remember to agree on a price before loading your luggage in the cab trunk.
Transfer from Granada Airport
Taking a taxi at Granada Airport can be rather time-consuming. Also, ordering several 4-wheeled cabs for a larger company will be much more costly, than if they take one bigger car. For such cases, there’s a variant of a pre-ordered transfer. With Kiwitaxi, one may choose a suitable vehicle class to make a journey comfortable for each traveler.
To pre-order a transfer, fill in the booking form with your flight data, a hotel address, and a number of passengers. Be sure to order child seats for small children. A Kiwitaxi driver will track the flight updates to timely meet you in the air terminal. A private taxi transfer to the city center costs from 33 euros, taking around half an hour. All fares are fixed and depend on an ordered car class. An hour-long journey to Sierra Nevada takes from 84 euros. You may pay for the transfer online when making a booking or in cash to the driver upon arrival at a hotel.
With Kiwitaxi, you’ll start your travel right after passing the customs, as you will not have to wait in a taxi queue. You’ll enjoy a smooth transfer ride considerably saving your time and energy.
Public Transport from Granada Airport
Buses going directly to Granada depart from the airport hourly reaching the city in 45 minutes and costing 3 euros per person. A bus to Alhambra gets to the final point in 35 minutes. Tickets cost 3 euros as well. Be ready to take your suitcases with you in a passenger compartment and hold children in hands. Buses have no designated seats for infants and little space for luggage.
Also, unlike taxis and transfer services, local public transport is unavailable at night.
About the airport
The airport opened in 1972. Only in 2003, it gained the name of the poet Federico Garcia Lorca born near Granada. In 2017, it handled over 900 thousand passengers.
