Altea, a Spanish town on the Mediterranean Costa Blanca, is known for its warm climate, sandy beaches, and labyrinthine streets. One may be interested in how to get from there to nearby destinations, and this article covers transportation tips on traveling around Altea and to neighboring places.
Taxi from Altea
Altea is a small town, and, despite many tourists visiting it, only a few taxi services operate in the town. The easiest way to order a local taxi is to ask a receptionist at your hotel or hail a cab in the street. A taxi trip from here to Alicante costs from 70 euros and lasts around 45 minutes. Reaching its airport will take from 80 euros and 50 minutes. Also, be sure to speak good Spanish to negotiate with a taxi driver.
Transfer from Altea
If you don’t want to bother with arranging transportation in a foreign country, especially departing at night, you can pre-order a transfer in advance. In this case, unlike calling a taxi, you organize a future trip, know a price beforehand, and may rest peacefully: you’ll get your car at the needed time and place. To book a private transfer at Kiwitaxi, you should specify pick-up and drop-off places, departure time, a number of passengers, child seats required, etc. A transfer to Alicante costs from 84 euros and takes 45 minutes. Kiwitaxi provides fixed prices depending on a car class; you can check all fares on the website.
At the exact time and place, indicated in the order, your transfer driver will pick you up and get you to the destination. To provide safe and comfortable transfers, our company operates cars under 7 years old and hires only licensed qualified drivers.
Public Transport from Altea
You can go to Alicante either by bus or rail, spending 6 euros and 1,5 hours and 4-8 euros and almost 2 hours respectively. In the second variant, you’ll have to change a carriage at Benidorm – take a tram to the destination. Also, there’s a direct metro tram going to Calp. Tickets cost 1-2 euros and the trip takes about 25 minutes.
The route from here to the nearest air hub is served by several buses, a direct one departs only twice a day and reaches the airport in 2,5 hours, costing 12 euros per person.
Public transport is cheaper compared to taxis and transfers but implies a certain discommodity like little space for luggage and noise. Also, buses and trams don’t operate at night.
