Transfer vs. Other Ways to Get from Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport
Ljubljana International Airport named after Jože Pučnik, earlier knows as Brnik, is the main air hub in Slovenia. It serves around 1,4 million people a year, many of whom head to the resorts of Portorož, Rogaška Slatina, Bled and Bled Lake, and Strunjan.
How to get from Ljubljana Airport to Ljubljana city center or the other way round
Jože Pučnik air hub is approximately 25 km away from the capital. And this is how you can get from the air hub to the city:
- buses go to the capital from 05:00 to 20:00 every hour on weekdays. On Saturday and Sunday, there are only 7 routes running from 07:00 to 20:00. The stop is opposite the terminal exit, and tickets can be bought from a driver;
- shuttle buses depart 1–2 times an hour from 05:00 to 23:45. The seats on buses running between 00:15 and 00:45 should be booked in advance. Tickets can be bought from a driver or at the airport counters;
- taxi, which can be taken on the spot or booked via the app;
- transfer, booked in advance online.
At night, you can travel to the city only by taxi or transfer.
Transfer vs. Taxi from Ljubljana Airport (booked via the app)
Advantages of a private transfer
No need to deal with an unknown app. Familiar Uber hasn’t started to work in Slovenian capital yet. You can download HOPIN TAXI and Taxi Laguna, but you will have to dig into the settings first, in order to book a car.
The car will definitely come. Local taxi apps do not guarantee that the car will come, even if you left a request in advance. Kiwitaxi sends you an email with the voucher, which 100% confirms the car booking.
Disadvantage of a private transfer
11–14 euro more expensive. Taxi from Ljubljana Airport to the city center costs around 24–27 euro. You can book a Kiwitaxi service of an economy class for 38 euro.
Transfer vs. Taxi from Ljubljana Airport (taken on the spot)
Advantages of a private transfer
Avoid one of the worst taxis in Europe. Along with Rome, Prague, and three other cities, Slovenian capital is on the list of the European capitals with the lowest taxi rating. Most often, tourists complain that drivers overrate the prices and speed. The Kiwitaxi service is designed to make your trip as comfortable as possible.
Do not overpay. Kiwitaxi driver will get you from Ljubljana air hub to Portorož for 111 euro.
The price is almost the same. Thus, a taxi trip from Ljubljana Airport to the city center will cost 30–40 euro. A Kiwitaxi car of a micro class costs 38 euro, and of economy class — 40 euro.
Transfer from Ljubljana Airport vs. Bus and Shuttle bus
Advantages of a private transfer
Get to your hotel sooner than bus or shuttle bus departs. Waiting for public transport will take no less than 30 minutes. The Kiwitaxi transfer from Ljubljana Airport to the city center lasts for 30 minutes.
No need to spend a night at the airport. Buses of shuttle buses do not run to the city at night. Our service will pick you up from the air hub or hotel at any time of day.
A private car at the same price. If there are four of you, it is better to book an economy class car for 40 euro, than ride on a group shuttle for 36 euro.
Disadvantage of a private transfer
More expensive. One shuttle bus ticket costs 9 euro, and a bus ticket — 4,1 euro.
