Bratislava Airport to City Centre: Transfers and Taxi
The capital of Slovakia, Bratislava is a small but very cosy and charming city. Large numbers of travelers from all around the globe come to it to enjoy its incredibly beautiful old buildings such as churches, cathedrals, palaces, castles, and towers. The medieval charm of its Old Town can really take you a few centuries back in time!
The most convenient and hassle-free way to reach Bratislava city centre from the air hub is by using a private transfer. The main advantages of this option include:
Also, transfers will be the most stress-free option if you travel with children or elderly people. Remember to reserve a child car seat in case you’re planning a trip with a child.
The cost of the Kiwitaxi transfer from the air hub to the downtown starts from 23 euros. The travel time is 20 minutes.
Taxi from Bratislava Airport to City Centre
Official cabs at the airport are presented by a few airport’s partner taxi companies. Such vehicles have a company logo on their doors. Prices are shown on the info panels at the taxi ranks in front of the terminal. Besides taking a cab at the stand, you can also reserve one via phone — in this case, the fare may be even a little lower.
The average price for an Economy-class taxi from Bratislava Airport to the city centre is 20 euros. Payments can be made both in cash and with a credit card.
Beware of private taxi drivers, as they often severely overcharge tourists. If you’re not familiar with the city area and the local cab prices, the taxi cost from Bratislava Airport to the city centre can become a lot higher for you than the one mentioned above. Another problem with air hub taxis is that they sometimes accept foreign currency (US dollars), but their currency exchange rate is not good for their passengers. If you book a private transfer, you can prepay for it in your desired currency and get a better service at a fair price.
Public Transport from Bratislava Airport to City Centre
There is the bus 61 connecting the air hub to the city centre. It runs to the central railway station and reaches it in around 25 minutes (if there are no traffic jams on the road). The fare is 0.90 euros. The bus runs every 20 minutes.
This service is also available at night — you can see it as the bus N61. During night hours, it runs every 60 minutes.
The bus stop can be found straight in front of the terminal exit. Tickets can be bought from the ticket machines at the stop and in the Arrivals area, and from the newsstand in the Departures area. Keep in mind that ticket machines only accept coins. Also, you will need to stamp your ticket when boarding.
The air hub is located 9 kilometers northeast of downtown. Sometimes, there is traffic congestion on the road.
