How to Get from Tivat Airport to Budva
A large number of travelers flying to Tivat Airport wonder how to reach Budva - the most visited resort in Montenegro. This town is located in the central part of the Adriatic coast and is 21 km from the air hub. Everyone who wants to get to Budva from Tivat Airport may choose from one of these travel options: taxis, private transfers, and intercity buses.
Taxi from Tivat Airport to Budva
You may find taxis right after you exit the terminal. The trip cost may depend on the driver and the season (in high season, rates are usually higher). On average, getting to Budva from Tivat Airport by taxi costs €25 and takes 20-30 minutes. Also, note that in high season, inexperienced tourists often get scammed by local private drivers (some of them pay even €50 for a ride). So if you don’t want to be overcharged, be ready to bargain (the knowledge of the Montenegrin language may be of great help). Or you may call a car to Tivat Airport via phone (for instance, by calling the Red Taxi company).
Transfer from Tivat Airport to Budva
A Kiwitaxi transfer may be a great option in case you don’t want to stand on the highway in the heat waiting for a bus or negotiate the trip with taxi drivers at the exit. You simply make your order on the website and the driver meets you with a nameplate at the time appointed. You don’t have to discuss anything with your transfer driver: he/she already knows your address and gets you to your accommodation fast and without delay. A journey from Tivat Airport to Budva (Economy-class) costs €20. All vehicles used for our transfers are comfortable and air-conditioned.
Those who need to go back to Tivat Airport after their holidays may also order a return transfer.
Public Transport from Tivat Airport to Budva
You can get from Tivat Airport to Budva by intercity buses. But keep in mind that they don’t stop near the terminals. In order to find their stop, you’ll have to walk around 200 m to the Jadranski put highway. The station you need is situated on the air hub side. There, you’ll need to catch a bus passing by (the one going to Budva, Podgorica, or Bar). Just wave your hand when you see one. The fare is €2-3.
Note that these vehicles don’t offer much comfort. Also, these services don’t run after 10-11 p.m. In case you arrive at Tivat Airport later, take a taxi or use a pre-booked transfer.
