How to Get from Kotor to the Nearest Airports and Other Destinations
This Montenegrin resort town is located on the Adriatic shore. Have no idea how to get to Kotor or from it to the cities of Dubrovnik and Budva, as well as the airports of Tivat and Podgorica? In this case, you can choose any mode of transport: a taxi, a bus or a transfer.
Taxi from Kotor
This transport option is usually chosen by tourists who love travelling with comfort. Taxi in Kotor will also suit elderly travelers and families with children.
All taxis in the country are divided into official and private ones. The first ones can be easily found in the streets, as they have large phone numbers on them - by calling these numbers, you can order a car. Besides, they are usually newer than cars belonging to private drivers.
Be careful when getting into a car: first, make sure it is equipped with a taximeter, and only then negotiate the trip cost. If there is no meter in a car, the price will seem very high to you, and it is better to bargain with the driver and make it at least 10 % lower.
Using a taxi service within Kotor will cost you around 5 euros, and the trip to Tivat Airport will cost 10─15 euros.
Transfer from Kotor
Don’t like travelling by public transport or don’t want to look for a taxi driver upon arrival in the country? Book a private transfer and you will have nothing to worry about during your travel!
The Kiwitaxi service guarantees that your trip will be safe. It is quite easy to book a car with us: choose the necessary route and fill in the booking form by specifying your contact information.
A transfer will take you from Kotor to Podgorica Airport in just 1 hour and 30 minutes. The trip cost will be around 50 euros for an Economy-class car and 210 euros for a minibus up to 19 passengers.
Travelling with a child? In this case, don’t forget to order a child seat. You can do that when filling in the booking form, but note that you will have to pay extra for it.
One of the advantages of our service is that prices for all trips are fixed. Now you don’t have to worry that the journey cost may change after you reach your destination or in case you get stuck in a traffic jam.
Have questions about making an order? Just contact our support team, and our English-speaking operator will help you with your booking.
Public transport from Kotor
The bus station from which buses depart to other locations is a 5-minute walk from the old part of the town. You can get from it to Budva by comfortable bus, which fare is about 2─3 euros. The trip will take you about 25─30 minutes.
Tivat Airport is located 7 km from Kotor. The ticket cost is 1.5─3 euros. The final bus stop is around 150 m from the airport, and you will have to get from it to the air hub on foot.
Getting to Budva or Dubrovnik by bus is surely cheaper than by other means of transport, but you will have to wait for it at a crowded bus stop. Besides, it is usually hot and stuffy inside public transport, so this option doesn’t suit everyone.
Kotor: useful information
Kotor is world-famous for its favorable conditions for holidays, as well as its centuries-old history. It is located between the sea, the mountain ridge, and Skurda River.
The town center ─ Old Kotor ─ is a real labyrinth in which even locals get lost. So tourists are advised to collate their route with a map and look to the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon. Here, one can also find the major sights of Kotor. Tourists who are keen on ancient architecture should visit a fortress built in the Middle Ages, as well as numerous cathedrals and chapels.
However, most travelers come to the town not for old buildings, but for magnificent local landscapes, clean water, and amazing beaches. Besides, various carnivals, parades, and festivals attracting people from all over the world are held there.
