Transfers vs. Public Transport and Taxi in Verona
Verona is the city in the northeast of Italy, in the region of Veneto. It is about 10 km between the city center and Villafranca International Airport and around 20 minutes of travel time. A car trip to Milan Linate Airport and Venice Marco Polo Airport will take you 1.5 hours, and to the resort town of Sirmione — 45 minutes.
This article will tell you how to get to Verona from the airport or how to leave the city.
How to Get from Verona City to Verona Airport, Train Station, or Neighboring Cities
There are at least four ways to leave the city:
- by bus. In order to get from Porta Nuova train station to the airport, take ATV buses. One can get from Verona bus station to almost all Italian cities and towns (FlixBus and Eurolines carriers);
- by trains. They also go to Italian cities and towns — for example, to Garda, Venice, Sirmione, Bologna, Rome, and others;
- by taxi. One can order a taxi in Verona by phone, using an app, or take it at a special rank;
- by transfer. It is booked online in advance.
Transfer vs. Taxi in Verona booked by phone, via the app, or taken at a taxi rank
Advantages of a private transfer
Available in 7 languages. You won’t be able to book a taxi in Verona with Uber, as the app is prohibited in Italy. You can use AppTaxi, but it may not be available in your language. The Kiwitaxi website, as well as its booking form, is available in 7 languages.
The same price for a night trip to the airport — 40 euros. However, unlike a cab driver, our driver will arrive on time, help you with your baggage, and drive carefully. Moreover, transfer prices are fixed.
Disadvantages of a private transfer
Travel to the airport at daytime is 10–15 euros more expensive, as the trip from Verona city center with a taxi service costs 25–30 euros.
Transfer in Verona vs. Bus and Train
Advantages of a private transfer
You can get around even at night. Buses to the airport don’t run from midnight until 5 a.m., and all modes of city public transport stop operating after 10 p.m. Transfers can be booked 24/7.
You won’t have to stand during the trip. For example, getting to Venice by regional train will take you 1.5–2 hours. And if you don’t manage to take a seat, you’ll have to stand all this time which is not very comfortable. If you order a transfer, you will definitely travel seated in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle.
No need to plan your route. You’ll just get into a car and go, without worrying how to get from the city center to the airport or another city.
Disadvantages of a private transfer
More expensive. The cost of a trip from Verona train station to the airport will be 6 euros. One ticket on the regional train to Venice costs 11 euros, on the express Frecciarossa train — 22–40 euros, on the bus — from 7.9 euros. The price for the Kiwitaxi transfer from Verona to Venice for 4 passengers starts from 173 euros.
