Rome Airports: Transfers and Taxi
Transfers from Rome Airports
Rome is served by two international airports. Fiumicino is Italy's main air hub, which accepts regular and low-cost flights. Ciampino is an air hub for low-cost airlines, primarily for Ryanair.
Transfers from Rome Airports can take you to the capital itself, the Vatican, and to the seaport of Civitavecchia. The transfer is a convenient option if you need to travel between the airports of Fiumicino and Ciampino.
Benefits of the transfer:
it is convenient to travel between the airports and the Civitavecchia cruise port. With Kiwitaxi you go directly, and public transport runs in these directions only with a change.
pick the transport for your needs: a minibus for a large company, a minivan for bulky luggage or a spacious sedan if you are traveling with two children. By the way, you can book any number of child seats with your transfer, so that every small passenger can travel in safety.
it sets off without delay. During the high season, you will have to stand in line for a bus or taxi.
Fiumicino Airport is 30 km from Rome, Ciampino - 15 km. By transfer, you will reach Ciampino in half an hour, and Fiumicino in 50 minutes. The cost of a trip to both airports starts at 59 euros.
Taxi from Rome Airports
An official airport taxi carries tourists to Rome at fixed prices. From Fiumicino to the capital - for 48 euros, from Ciampino - for 30 euros. From Fiumicino to Civitavecchia, the price is 120 euros. But in practice, drivers can overcharge you justifying it by traffic jams. In this case, you will have to show the character and insist on official rates. Most importantly, remember that under no circumstances the cost of a trip from the airport to Rome can exceed 70 euros.
At the airport, it is very important not to run into private cab drivers. For a ride with them, both you and the driver can be fined 500 euros.
It is not so simple to distinguish a private taxi from an official one: any driver can afford yellow checkers. But only the official carrier must have a license and an official price list in the car.
Public Transport from Rome Airports
You can leave the airport not only by transfer or taxi but also by public transport.
From Fiumicino, you can directly leave for Rome by bus and train. By bus, you can also reach the Vatican.
From Ciampino directly to Rome, you can only get by bus. To get to the nearest train station, you must first take the bus.
Ciampino Airport and the port of Civitavecchia can only be reached by public transport from both airports with changes on the way.
Please note: if you rent a car, you will not be allowed into the historical part of Rome and directly to the quays of Civitavecchia.
