Transfers vs. Other Ways to Get from Milan Linate Airport
Linate air hub is just 8 km away from the city center; it is named after Enrico Forlanini, the pioneer of Italian aviation. This airport serves only domestic or international flights within the EU. It is easy to get from it to another Italian air hub, Milan–Malpensa, as there is a direct bus service between both airports. From Milan, one can go to Bergamo Airport, as well as to almost all popular Italian cities: Verona, Venice, Florence, and Genoa; or visit some landmarks like a beautiful Lake Como.
How to get from Milan Linate Airport to Milan city center or the other way round
Because the airport is located within the city, it will not be difficult to get to the center. For this purpose there are:
- buses. One can get to the city center by ATM company routes № 73 and X73. The first one runs every day from 5:35 to 00:35 with an interval of 10 minutes and goes to the metro station Piazza San Babila. The other runs only on weekdays from 7:00 to 20:00. It departs every 20 minutes and reaches the Porta Vittoria metro station. The travel time on these buses is 30 minutes. Another way to get from the air hub to the Central railway station (Milano Centrale) is by StarFly Company route and by ATM's AirBus, which run from 6:00 to 23:30. The travel time is 30 minutes, the interval is 30 minutes;
- taxi. One can order a taxi by phone, via the mobile app, or find it at a special parking lot;
- transfer. It is necessary to book it in advance, 48 hours before the departure.
You can buy a ticket directly from the driver; the bus stop is located right at the exit from the arrival zone. Follow the signs not to get lost.
Transfer vs. Taxi from Milan Linate Airport (taken on the spot or ordered via the app)
Advantages of a private transfer
The transfer costs as much as a taxi. A trip in an official taxi from Milan Linate Airport to Milan city has a fixed price of 40 euros, while a transfer with a higher level of comfort will cost only 42 euros.
One can order a child safety seat and a booster. It won’t be easy to find a taxi even with a booster.
Traveling with a group is profitable. If you travel with a group of, say, 6 people, you will not fit into one car. The transfer allows you to book a minivan for 7 people for only 55 euros, and a premium-class minivan for 6 people - for 74 euros.
No need to stay in line waiting for a car. Namely, this happens with taxis at the parking lot near the airport. Considering that Milan is a popular tourist destination, you will need to wait a lot.
No need to worry about cash. The taxi driver will almost certainly say that he/she has no change. In this case, you will have either to quickly search for a change and waste time or leave unplanned tips.
