Transfers vs. Other Ways to Get from Milan Malpensa Airport
Malpensa is one of three airports in Italian northern capital. The airport is 45 km away from the city, so it is better to plan the route to the city center in advance. From this air hub tourists can travel not only to Milan but also to other two airports, Bergamo and Linate, as well as to neighbouring towns of Italy.
How to Get from Malpensa Airport to Milan and the other way round
There are three ways how to get from Malpensa Airport to Milan downtown:
- by private buses Malpensa Shuttle, which go to the central railway station of the city;
- by express trains Trenord or commuter trains Trenitalia, which take the tourists to the main railway station of the city;
- by local taxis, booked via the app or taken on the spot;
- by transfers, booked online in advance.
Transport in Italy is expensive and the distance between the air hub and Milan is relatively big, so be prepared to considerable expenses, especially when travelling alone.
Transfer from Milan Airport vs. Taxi booked via the app
Advantages of a private transfer
60 euro cheaper. Taxi from Malpensa to the Milan, booked via the app (for example, UberBlack), will cost you 140 euro. Trip with Kiwitaxi will be 83 euro.
No need to look for a car in the parking place. Taxi driver will be waiting for you in the parking place near the terminal, and Kiwitaxi driver will meet you at the arrivals hall exit.
You will not contribute to the boycotted service. Italian taxi drivers regularly protest against Uber. Probably, that is not a good idea to use the service with such a notoriety in this country.
Transfer vs. Taxi from Malpensa, taken on the spot
Advantages of a private transfer
30 euro cheaper. Taxi from Milan Airport to the city center will make 110 euro.
You can travel with a big group. Official local taxi accepts no more than 4 passengers. Kiwitaxi transfer from Milan Malpensa Airport can be ordered for as many people as you need.
Don’t wait in a line. July and August usually mark the peak of a tourist season. In these months the taxi line in Malpensa can take half an hour, at best, or even longer. Our drivers won’t make you wait.
Transfer vs. Bus from Milan Malpensa Airport
Advantages of a private transfer
Ticket is a not a guarantee for the ride. Tourists get in the bus on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the bus is full, you will not travel, even though you have a ticket.
A passport control delay is not a problem. If several other flights landed at the same time with yours, you can get stuck at passport control for an hour or more. These delays can prevent you from getting into the connecting bus. At Kiwitaxi, 1 hour of waiting at the airport is included in the price.
Disadvantage of a private transfer
More expensive, than a bus fare which is 10 euro.
Transfer vs. Trains from Milan Malpensa
Advantages of a private transfer
You will not be involved in a strike. Railway staff often strike on the line between Malpensa and city railways stations (Cadorna, Centrale etc.), which blocks the traffic. Kiwitaxi drivers do not strike.
The driver will adjust to your flight. Train tickets, booked on the website, are valid for the particular departure time (+3 hours). If your flight is late, your tickets will go to waste. But Kiwitaxi drivers monitor your flight on the Internet and arrive by the real landing time in order to meet you.
Disadvantage of a private transfer
Several times more expensive. Train ticket costs 14–16 euro.
