There is no airport in Ubud. The nearest air hub is in Denpasar, 37 kilometers away. Transfers from the airport of Denpasar will take you to Ubud and to the popular resorts of Nusa Dua, Seminyak, Kuta, and to the temple on the edge of the Uluwatu cliff. Advantages of the Kiwitaxi transfer:

• A car waits for you at the airport exit. A bus stop is located at the domestic terminal. To reach it, you will have to walk for about 10 minutes. In extreme heat and with heavy luggage in hand, a walk will be far from pleasant to you. 

• The transfer will get you directly to any place in Bali. By public transport, you can get directly only to Kuta, Sanur, Jimbaran and Nusa Dua.

• Not a single minute wasted. Transfer arrives exactly at the appointed time. Since public transport in Bali is very poorly developed, there are a lot of people who want to leave the airport by taxi. So you will have to wait in line for a free car. 

Taxi from Ubud Airport

At Ubud airport, there are several types of taxi:

• Prepaid taxi. This is the official airport service. You pay a fixed cost for a trip at the counter and wait for a free car to arrive. Since this is the safest taxi, there are a lot of people who want to book a car: you will have to wait for your turn. 

• Grab. Actually this is a mobile app, but there has been a service desk at the airport since recently. Many tourists complain that the drivers of this service refuse to go at the price indicated in the app and increase the final cost. 

• Private drivers. It’s not safe to go with them. You will be lucky if they are just getting to your destination in circles. Some of them often drive you away in an unknown direction and then require more money for driving you to the right address.

• BlueBird. This is a reliable service, but they are not allowed to enter the airport territory. You will have to walk to the highway. This option only suits those who travel light.

The cost of a taxi to Ubud is approximately 360,000 rupees. 

Public Transport from Ubud Airport

• Buses of Sarbagita bus company

Buses from Ubud Airport run along two routes: to Nusa Dua via Jimbaran (at 09:15, 13:15 and 17:15) and to Batubulan bus station, from which minibuses go to Ubud via Denpasar and Kuta (at 11:00, 15:00 and 19:00). 

The stop is located at the exit of the domestic airline terminal. The fare is 3,500 rupees. The buses have luggage compartment and air conditioning. 

• Bemo microbuses

These are microbuses for 12 passengers which run along a certain route and stop anywhere on the way on-demand. Bemos are popular with locals, so there are a lot of people who want to jump on these microbuses. Be prepared that the ride will be very slow. 

A bemo ride costs 4,000 rupees, but foreigners are often charged more which is very difficult to predict. 

Make sure to ask the driver where the bus or bemo goes. This is the only way to find out the exact itinerary. Buy a ticket from the driver, but be sure to have some coins and small bills: most likely there will be no change for you.

Buses and bemos are suitable only for those who travel light and without small children. Otherwise, you risk wasting your time and resources on the trip from the airport.

Taxi is not much cheaper than transfer, but you will either stand in line or travel with private carriers, who may increase the initial cost of the service.

There are two terminals at the airport: for international and for domestic airlines. Buses and bemos stop at the domestic terminal. You can reach it from the international terminal only on foot in about 10 minutes. There is the Festival Plaza shopping center between the terminals.

In addition to all standard amenities, such as a nursing room, a first-aid post, a free Wi-Fi zone, Ubud Airport has many massage parlors. By the way, the restaurants have fairly reasonable prices for food, and there is also a cafe for smokers.

There are 4 business lounges: one on the third floor near exits 1 and 2, the rest  — on the second floor near exits 7–9.
