How to Get from Heviz to Other Destinations
Hungary is famous for its spa towns and Heviz is one of the most famous ones. This city in Zala region has the world’s biggest thermal lake, Lake Heviz, and attracts the biggest number of visitors for health tourism in Hungary each year as the city offers a real spa experience with its relaxed atmosphere. You can take a relaxing walk along the promenade near the lake or in the city, visit St. Magdalene Church which was renovated having preserved, however, its medieval roots. You can check the folk art which the church exhibits and stop by at one of the restaurants on your way back to Heviz city center for some wine. Be sure to visit farmers market for fresh food and handmade rtifacts.
Taxi from Heviz
Taxis in Hungary have a bad reputation for rip-offs and you are advised to let your hotel call one or bargain for the fare before you get into to make sure you pay the right amount. After you make sure you took the necessary precautions, a ride to Budapest city center will be around €170 and to Vienna airport €190. But changing cities means the driver might ask for the return fee and changing countries is not a sensible option for the taxi since it is even more expensive than a private transfer.
Public Transport from Heviz
To Hungarian capital, there is a bus connection, approximately every 2 hours and it costs around €12 if you buy your ticket early. The trip takes almost 3 hours. Also, keep in mind that prices might change for different hours. You can also go to Balatonberény to take the train from there for €10 but it takes around 2-3 hours. There are no direct connections with Budapest Airport so you have to take the bus 200E from Budapest. To Vienna, you can go to Keszthely station and take the train. But you have to make changes. It takes more than 5 hours from Heviz and costs around €50. As for the bus, you have to make change too. In total it costs €20 but takes longer than 5 hours.
Private Transfer from Heviz
Although public transport is the cheapest option from Heviz, it requires a number of changes and takes way longer than taxis and the taxi prices might include a return fee for changing cities. In this case, a private transfer is a convenient option for you. A private transfer gives you the comfort and freedom of a taxi with reliable, fixed prices. You can book your transfer to the Hungarian capital at Kiwitaxi.com for €120 and to Vienna International for €132. You can pay for your transfer in advance fast and secure with your credit card or later to your driver and just enjoy your journey.
