How to Get from Batumi Airport to Other Destinations
Situated around 5 km away from Batumi city center, Alexander Kartveli International Airport is the third busiest air hub in Georgia (after Tbilisi and Kutaisi airports). Serving around 600,000 passengers annually, it’s the main gateway to the Georgian Black Sea coast. If you’re coming here, you’re probably wondering how to reach Batumi or some nearby resorts. So, you may use local buses, taxis, or private transfers to get where you need.
Taxi from Batumi Airport
There are lots of private taxi drivers waiting outside the terminal. However, don’t hurry to use their services: these drivers often increase prices and may offer 20 lari for a trip to Batumi while the real fare is only 7 lari. Taxi journeys to the nearby resorts may be especially expensive. The reason is that local cabs are rarely equipped with taximeters, so the ride cost is discussed beforehand and depends on the driver. However, you may also use some online taxi services. In this case, traveling to Kobuleti will cost you 26 lari (around €9.30), and to Ureki - 42 lari (around €15) on average.
Transfer from Batumi Airport
If you want to reach your destination quickly and wish to deal with an honest and reliable carrier, reserving a Kiwitaxi transfer is exactly what you need. Using this option, you will be aware of the final trip cost in advance. Once your private taxi transfer is booked, its rate stays fixed. In case you’re traveling with your small child, you may add a baby seat to your order. The price for an individual transfer from the air hub to the city starts from €18. Trips to the nearby resorts may be booked, as well. If you need a return transfer, you may also easily reserve it at once.
Public Transportation from Batumi Airport
Buses are the cheapest option to reach the city from the terminals. A trip costs 0.40 lari (€0.15), but you may buy a ticket only for two trips (for 0.8 lari or €0.3). If you’re traveling solo, you may use this ticket later again on another bus. A ticket is bought from the conductor when boarding. To get to Batumi, you may use Line 9 (which goes via inner streets and arrives in the very city center) or Line 10 (which goes along the embankment and finally comes to the train station).
These services run from the airport only until 00:00 during high season and until 20:00 during low season. If you’re arriving later, pre-book a transfer or a taxi.
