How to Get to La Plagne
Known as the world’s most popular ski resort, La Plagne lies in the very heart of the French Alps. If planning to spend your vacation there, be ready to learn available variants of transportation to the town from the nearest airports. Read on to find out public transport, taxi, and transfer options.
Taxi to La Plagne
At airports, taxi cabs are ordinarily waiting outside the arrivals area. Various services may offer either flat rates or meter-based prices for getting to ski resorts. Depending on a situation, be ready to negotiate the final price before getting in the car or make sure a taxi driver turns the meter on. An average trip from Grenoble air hub costs 250-300 euros and takes 2 hours and 20 minutes. Getting from Lyon air terminal by taxi will make around 400 euros and last 2 hours and 20 minutes as well.
Transfer to La Plagne
People valuing comfort and reliability may consider pre-booking private transportation. You simply reserve a transfer in advance to get a convenient door-to-door service on a specific date and time. With this option, you can select a preferable car class, which is especially handy for those traveling with children, in a large company, or with a lot of luggage.
To pre-order an individual transfer at Kiwitaxi, provide information on your trip: a flight number, a drop-off address, how many passengers go, and if you need child seats. You’ll know the price when making a reservation and it’ll never change. A fare for a transfer from Lyon Airport to La Plagne starts from 475 euros, taking about 2 hours and 20 minutes of travel time. You may easily pay for the transfer online by card when making a booking. If you prefer to pay upon the service completion, take care to have cash.
After meeting you in the arrivals hall, your driver will safely and quickly get you to the resort town. All you’ll have to do is to enjoy a comfortable ride.
Public Transport to La Plagne
The handiest and cheapest way to reach the resort from Geneva air hub is going by bus. It’ll take 2,5 hours and cost 24-87 euros per ticket to get to Aime – the closest bus station to La Plagne. To set off from Lyon air hub, take a train to Grenoble, then to Montmelian, and finally change a carriage to Landry railway station. This 4,5-hour trip will cost 53-70 euros per person. As for Grenoble air terminal, no public transport connects it with the resort.
Remember to check timetable beforehand. Unlike taxi and transfer service, public transport has limited hours of operation and can be unavailable at night.
