Cairo Airport: Transfers and Taxi
Transfers from Cairo Airport
Transfers from Cairo Airport (CAI) are the most convenient and stress-free way to reach popular Egyptian resorts: Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada, Makadi Bay, Giza, Alexandria. From the air hub, you can also get to the pyramids.
The main benefits of this travel option:
Safe and comfortable trip. Tourists say that almost all taxi drivers at the air hub try to rip passengers off — and they use all possible methods to do that. With Kiwitaxi, you may not worry about that: the cost of your trip will stay fixed after your order is made.
No need to exchange currency. With us, you don’t have to buy Egyptian pounds: just choose a prepayment online and pay for your ride in your currency.
No language barrier. You won’t have to discuss anything with the driver, as he’ll receive all the information needed beforehand. Also, our English-speaking customer support team will always help you.
This is the most hassle-free option when traveling with children. We offer a few types of car seats depending on the child’s age.
There’s 15 km between the air hub and the capital city. The trip by private transfer takes 40 minutes and costs 26$.
Taxi from Cairo Airport
There are 3 types of cabs at the air hub: black and white, white, and yellow ones. It’s better to take a white or yellow taxi, as these ones are all metered and comfortable (they have air-conditioning). Fares depend not only on the distance but also on the car class.
The average taxi fare to a hotel in the downtown is 120 EGP or 8$ (for a medium-sized car).
Always make sure the driver turns on the meter. Also, note that largest cars at the air hub are 7-seater minibuses. If you’re a group of more than 7 people, choose the Kiwitaxi service — we offer minibuses for up to 10 passengers.
Public Transport from Cairo Airport
There are several bus routes going from the air hub to the capital city and other governorates.
The cheapest option to get to the capital city center is by city bus 356. It reaches Tahrir Square in 35 minutes. The fare is 3 EGP; tickets are bought from the driver. The bus leaves every 30 minutes until 23:00 from the station in front of T1. Also, there are new shuttles running to the downtown, but they’re more expensive — 35 EGP.
Keep in mind that buses can be extremely crowded.
Booking a transfer from Cairo Airport
You need to make your order at least 24 hours before the ride. But even if you make it later, we’ll try to find a car for you.
To make it, specify these details: the trip date and time, the desired car class, and if you need any extra services (water, child seat, extra hour of waiting).
When your order’s made, we’ll send you a confirmation and a voucher by email. The voucher will have all the trip details: its date and time, the meeting point, and the driver’s contact info.
