How to Get from Varna Airport to the City and Other Destinations
Varna Airport is the third largest Bulgarian air hub which is located 7.5 km away from the center of Varna. As travel industry in the country is expanding, the air hub receives more and more passengers each year. Tourists go from here to the city by public transport, taxi, or transfer. Also, they often go to some nearby resorts: Golden Sands, Albena, Sunny Beach, Sveti Vlas, etc.
Taxi from Varna Airport
In order to take a taxi at Varna Airport, go to special taxi ranks at the exit from the Arrivals area. A ride to the city with the official airport service (Triumf) will cost around 5-10 euros. The fare is calculated according to a tariff (it can be found on a windshield and a right back door of a car). If you choose a private taxi driver, be ready to bargain, as such drivers tend to inflate prices. So traveling long-distances, you may overpay much. The average price for a taxi to Golden Sands is 30 euros, but rates may rise at night.
Transfer from Varna Airport
If you like planning your travel in advance and want to know the exact journey cost beforehand, a Kiwitaxi transfer will be a good choice. Once you book a car, a price remains fixed. Thus, a transfer from Varna Airport to the city for 4 people will cost 15 euros and to Golden Sands - 24 euros. Our driver will meet you in the Arrivals area, lead you to the car, and help you with luggage. If you are traveling with a group, you can book a minibus transfer. We provide transfers to almost all Bulgarian resorts.
Public transport from Varna Airport
There is the bus №409 running from the air hub to the city every 15 minutes. Its stop can be found next to Terminal 2. The fare is from 0.5 to 1.5 euros (depending on your destination), and a ticket can be bought from the driver. You will reach the city center in 20 minutes. The final stop is in Golden Sands. In the city center, you can take the bus №8 to get to Saints Constantine and Helena or the buses №9 or №109 to reach Euxinograd, Sunny Day, or Golden Sands. But keep in mind that this travel option is not available at night and not suitable for tourist with large luggage.
Varna Airport consists of three terminals, but only one of them (Terminal 2) is regularly used. It is a small but rather colorful and modern air hub. In the territory of it, one can find a business lounge, shops (including duty-free ones), cafes, banks, currency exchange offices, ATMs, car rental services, a medical center, a nursing room, and a free children’s playground. Free Wi-Fi is also available here.
