If you decide to go by bus from Lisbon to Porto, a return ticket will be cheaper. Also, there are some discounts for students and aged passengers. A youth ticket (for passengers from 13 to 29) and a senior ticket (for passengers older than 65) cost for €3 less from the main price. Children can take a half-price ticket. Train service is operated by the Intercity and the Alfa Pendular. If you would like to go faster and have more facilities during the journey, you should choose the Alfa Pendular trains. The other trains are a little slower and older. Some trains reach the destination in 3 hours; the more modern trains bring passengers from Lisbon to Porto in 2 hours and 30 minutes.
