Although the train connection in Italy is usually faster and cheaper than the bus one, in this case, it is not – the trip by bus is shorter. Another reason for choosing the bus is that the train station in Siena is located 2 km away from the city center and there is no place for leaving your luggage there. The only reason to take a train is to enjoy the views of the countryside. If you want to save your money and time the best option is to take a bus. The most convenient option would be the transfer Florence-Siena.
One of the main landmarks of the town is the beautiful Piazza del Campo. Twice a year (on July 2nd and August 16th), the famous Palio di Siena (the biggest annual event) takes place on this square. The Fonte Gaia, the most beautiful fountain in Siena is also situated here. Almost all attractions are located between Piazza del Campo and the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta. From the top of the Torre del Mangia, you can get a truly breathtaking view and see all of Siena.
